I don't mean to be critical but is it right to call the Gutbusters an ACT team when some of their members don't live in the ACT? I used to live in the Illawarra and I felt as close to Canberra as what I do in Sydney.

I think we should be included in the NSW table(we are smack, bang in the middle of NSW ),Keith is in Nowra and Ian and Jason are in the Gong, Alex and I have been doing most of our sailing this summer down Illawarra way.

We are likely to get a few more members joining our team from Sanctuary point.

The team originally was formed by Canberra sailors but it seems like Sanctuay point, lake Illawarra or Gerroa has become our scoring venues.

Should we just be called THE GUSTBUSTERS and drop the ACT from our name? But it would be nice to keep the ACT as most members have ties to Canberra and in respect to those who formed the team.

Perhaps that's a decision you need to make. Either drop the ACT tag or restrict membership to windsurfers living in the ACT.

Almost everyone in the team joined when they lived in the ACT. You don't want to leave your team just because you move outside Canberra!! We love our team! We're friends!

Anyway, the choice of name should be up to the team to make. Thanks anyway...

But, if we considered another name, we could call ourselves the Aussie Gustbusters and poach members from all Australian teams (not just yours). [}:)]

My issue is that since the ACT is only ever going to have one team, we should be included in the NSW table since we are otherwise listed on our own.

Bilabog, Can you please arrange for the team to be included with NSW from now on?

KA360,

The Best way to solve this issue is;

Contact Ben & Hardie ( GPS Team Challenge site) Asked them to class you as a NSW Team. Keep your name as the ACT Gustbusters. Only they can do that.

If you keep your ACT tag you will always be ranked against ACT sailors.

I have noticed QLD teams are starting to sail at Yamba ( Northern NSW ) because of it is a good flat water in a NE wind. They wont change their Tag or be ranked against NSW sailors.

Agree.

Agree, subject to Ian's concurrence. But, when the GPS TC was going through its expansionary phase, Ben was keen to have a team from every Australian state and territory. Now that the Challenge has gone pan-galactic, I suppose that POV is no longer relevant.

I think its a good thing. It seems most of the sailors down at Sanctuary Point come from Canberra or at least it seems that way.

I think Keef defected to the ACT GB as he wanted to sail with other members of his team, and given that most of the others there are from the ACT it makes sense.

I hope to add my own 'Double Demerits' data from Sandy Point one of these days, and if you are restricted to sailing in your own water ways it just becomes a challenge for those that happen to live in a great speed spot.

The ACT tag shouldn't matter, even if you just sail with someone who used to sail with a friend of a friend who used to come from the ACT. But I must admit to now being a little guilty of the "gust busting" tag. Gust busting is so Lake Burley Griffin. There's nothing like it, especially in a westerly. I sort of miss it every now and then.

To make amends maybe I should update the old surf wagon. Ecto-1 was up on Ebay not so long ago.

I think we have to insist that the cockroaches are restricted to 'speed' runs in Lake Dangerous. It would only be fair. If any of them live north of the harbour bridge, its not really fair that they sail south of it is it?
