Yes you can join any team, doesnt have to be your exact geographic area, just wait for an invite, if one hasnt come your way from this thread in next day or two, I'll get more active for you!!

Keef you are MORE than welcome to join the Cockroaches mate. We are NSW's largest team and more often than not have someone posting when it's windy.
Send me a pm if you want any other details.

Keef your very welcome to join your team on the Mid-North Coast NSW.
We have just started the team this month and looking for new members.
All the other teams apart from Lake Macquarie Team are Sydney Base teams.
We want to get guys from Country NSW.
Cheers
Mark

Hey Keef, I've seen you blasting on your home built board a couple of months ago at Sanctuary Point. I'm sure you'd be a welcome addition to any NSW team.

Keef,

you met Jon (Laff) and I a few weeks ago down at Sanctuary Point. We were down there this weekend too. Unfortunately yesterday was much like the day we met you, a teasing 10 knot seabreeze that never strengthened. We are both in the Demerits and really need some new members as we are a much smaller team. I don't see the Demerits as a Sydney based team as we like to travel up and down the coast and as soon as I can I'm getting out of Sydney.

Mark was a Demerit till he generated enough interest up there to start a local team. Jon and I travelled up there to meet them but again the wind failed to co-operate when we were there.

So its possible once people start seeing your posts and you spread the word you may be able to start a team down there later on. In the meantime we would be really happy for you to join us as we all really like sailing at Sanctuary Point and plan to do so regularly in the new year.

Keef,

Double Demerits is good team and what Karl said is right. Later try and get guys interest in the Challenge in your area to start your own team. I was by my self up here and joined the DD, until I generated enought interest to start our own team. We have 6 guys now. You have 3 options now Cheers

Keef,

I will second Moby on that one. It would be great to have you on board with the Double Demerits. As Moby said, we regularly make trips out of Sydney and we were in fact at Santuary Point on Saturday (unfortunately not much wind ).

I'll be sailing at Kyeemagh on Wednesday. See you then.

Can I sign up? I like sailing down at Sanctuary Point and it would give me a great reason to dust off the inch of dust from the Navi I bought a year and a half ago

Yeah,

no worries at all. It would be good to have a few strong teams in NSW like they do in WA.

Sanctuary Point and Jervis Bay looks like fantastic spots to sail. Just that the two times we have been down there, the seabreeze teased us at around 10 knots in the gusts and never kicked in. The upside was it was great days for beginners to go windsurfing.

looks can be decieving karl ,Sanctuary Point is a hole with very fluky wind, theres allso some shallow spots, the best place to sail down here is jervis bay, its a massive bay and heeps of room for everyone

No worries,

Bugger about losing the GPS.how did you lose it? I was sailing today with mine and it came loose and fell off while I was sailing. Fortunately I was able to recover it. I use a Pacaqua and its good but the fastening system around the arm isn't that great. I may start taping over the fastening to secure it.

all of the above karl i was doing a few runs along the runway and had a good downwind stack, and your not wrong about the pacaqua you need arms like hulk hogan the strap is huge, well i have to blame something rather than my stupidity

A noreaster there is usually pretty good. It is usually not that different to the conditions in Sydney, but sometimes lighter, sometimes stronger. It's just a bit far to go if the conditions are marginal.

What do we do to sign up?

Come and join us Keef. Benefits of membership are enormous! Maybe a slightly subsidised GPS for instance.

I pinched a big safety pin from my wifes sewing kit and pinned the Pacqua fastening together. otherwise the velcro is a bit flaky when it gets wet.

works well

cheers

Join the Demerits? Yes sure. Since Mark and Steve left to start the Marauders we need a few more sailors to post their times for the team. I've been out a few times lately and because Laff is the only other Demerit sailing and he didn't post for that day, or vice versa, the results don't count for the team side of things.
