Hi Sailors!!
My name is Toby! I'm a member of the Mandurah Mob in the gpsteam challenge! I've hit the road with my sail board and need some help on sailing spots on the the east coast and want to know if any one is keen to catch up for a sail!!! I understand it's the wrong time of year! Heading north from Sydney in a week! Look forward to a sail. Regards Toby

Budgewoi lake is well worth checking out. This time of year we are looking for westerlies or southerlies. You need at least a 45 degree weedy and ideally a delta style fin.

Toby should have those, he sails Fangys.
But you may need to tell him where it is!
He's a Pom who works in France during their Winter, he's not that up on Aus things.

Great! That's just off the M1 2/3 the way to Newcastle, Toby should be going right past there on his way North.
Lets hope there's some wind.

Yep usually only 12-18kts but if you may be lucky and get 20kts plus .
That direction is great in that it's deeper so you can use bigger fins but there is still usually lots of glass to play in.,It's side offshore so you have to walk out a bit to start. The angle for bearaways isn't as great as some other directions but it's warm with a reasonably consistent wind.

Many teams sail at Budgewoi lake. The "Budgie Smugglers" are perhaps the most prolific, closely followed by "Lake Macquarie". If conditions are good quite a few guys come up from Sydney or even down from the North coast. We have had very little wind for a few weeks now. If it blows Sunday there could be as many as 20 people most of whom are on GPSTC.

Hey Shane, had a sail there last January. 30-35kts SSW tiny ripples. Locals were going berserk with PB's.

Toby, Friday and Saturday are both looking like sailable days at Budgewoi lake. It will be westerly so everyone will be at Peel St.
Friday is not looking ideal, but westerlies are very unpredictable. Saturday around noon looks like the best time. Peel St has a big carpark so there is no issue in getting a spot. Hope to see you there.
