Hi folks, Its on again... Al's (not going to be there) SpeedFortnight.!!!

The dates are Sat 26th Sept - Sun 11th Oct.

SpeedCentral will be running again, so that we can get together for some serious banter around the fireplace -> just remember to bring your GPS..!
Even though Al wont be there, he will be with us in spirit, as we hit the speed course.

So far we have about a dozen guys that have put their name down with a big tick. If you are interested, shoot me a Seabreeze message.

In previous years, Al and a few other guys have hired houses for the two weeks - bunking in one of those houses has cost around $200-$300 per person. But the beds fill quick, so you will need to book a spot... so shoot me a message so that I put you on the "bed needed" list.

Note this is not an event -> we are just getting together to have some fun sailing.

Hi Mathew,
Thanks for organizing the Speed event this year, it is with sad heart that I read your posting, but thanks to you and Daffy for organizing things this year and I hope I can get down again in the future..

As promised I will try and organize some prizes from the usual sponsors, we will have to keep fingers crossed this year with the economic crises as no one want's to give away anything..

I believe all the real Speed Sailors (except myself) will attend again this year and there should be a good turnout like last year, even though last year was the worst wind I have ever seen at an event, no doubt this year it will kick in real good..

So guys don't just talk about it on the forum book in with Mathew and get your ass into gear and get down to Sandy Point, for SPEED FORTNIGHT 26th Sept - 11th Oct.2009..

What? No Al? It won't be the same.

Who will cook us all breakfast in the morning?

I will come along. At the very least, speed central has a great fireplace...

It basically comes down to having at least one week overlap with school holidays, so that parents can bring their kids (excluding Tasmania who are still on the 3-term calendar).

I'm personally not fussed when it is, although I am aware of the odd sailor that would prefer the school holidays... since this announcement is still quite early, if there is enough support for being held at some other date, then let the masses shout for it to be so..!

Nope. Dates locked in! It's always been the first two weeks of October to overlap with my holidays!
Hardie. Please change your bookings. Plenty of time. It would be a real drag if you didn't gather with the faithful.

First 2 weeks for me is in gero with family, then taking another 4 weeks off to be in vic and sa. if the 2nd week is an epic forecast might make it for last day or two of the fortnight.

Hi Guys, Speed Fortnight has always started at the end of September running for 16 days which incorporates three weekends in all, these dates were chosen so that it will usually fit in with at least one week of school holidays from all states.

But most importantly you are more likely to get at least one or more days of good south westerly winds were you can get over that elusive 40 knot barrier..

How's things going with finding a house?

Happy to lend a hand in finding one if people are a bit tied up at the moment.

Well, I'd best get back to packing the car for a dawn session tomorrow.

Cheers!
