Hopefully we will see some creative input now.

Make sure you post some of the better designs for all to see, and so that the rest of us hacks have something to aim for

I'm happy to organise getting the tees and printing them once a design is finalised.
I'm sure my boss won't have an issue doing these at pure cost. Logisticaly it's a bit of an issue as we are all over Austrlaia and there is freight involved which until we are ready to send it is an unknown amount. That needs to be factored in either individually or as a total job lot. Understand that being in Sydney the Sydney teams wouldn't be affected by freight.

Things to keep in mind for the design are as follows;

How many positions for the print (each position means another setup and print cost)
How many colours in the print (each colour involves a setup fee)
Colour for the tee (white is cheapest, colours cost a bit more)
Style of tee (do we use a plain old cotton tee or something with a bit of contrast colour or do we go for a cooldry material)

For the cockroach tees we did a black tee with a white print just on the front. Simple

Maybe we can work it out that I ship each states tees to a central person or shop and then the individuals from the teams are responsible for picking them up or arranging postage etc. That's how I did it with the cockroach tees we did over here.
Sizes shouldn't be an issue, I can cater for kids as young/small as size 3 and go all the way up to moo moo size 5XL. I think this size comes with tube battens to stop the flapping when going upwind

T-shirts sound good, how about different colours for each state, then if you travel everyone knows where you're from.
Keep the graphics the same for all as it gets expensive when you start putting team names etc.
Each state has an official colour I think, anyone know for sure?

Some ideas my sister drew up for a shirt. She drew it with colar which i reckon looks prity good but this would obviousily be more expensive. Some may pay the extra for a good shirt. Colours are optional to team, state etc. Also could have different colour for the colar if you decide to go that way.

FRONT


Writting on the top left corner is kind of like a basket ball number and says "Team Challenge". Could be on a pocket or something i don't really know. Various options as to what is says and what not. This costs a bit more aswell so not so sure. Once again some may pay extra for a good shirt.

BACK


I think that having your nick name up the top and team name down the bottom is a good idea but thats personal choice aswell. That symbol in the middle of the two is meant to be the "Thommen 1 GPS Team Challenge" that is at the top of the website just couldnt fit it all in on a small drawing sorry.


Anyway just some ideas. Could very easily just be made into a cheap white Tee if thats what people want but i also like the idea of having a really nice shirt. Colours can be changed to suit people and i don't mind the idea of having colours for different states. I like haing your nick name and team name on the back though reckon thats prity good.

The different coloured shirts won't be a problem. I use Gildan brand tees which have a colour pallet of about 30-40 odd to choose from. These are the best promo tees out there and cheap enough for a distributor like me.
Like I have posted above, for cost reasons I'd be keeping it to a 1 position front print, at worst maybe 2 position with a text logo on front middle or left chest with the name of the challenge, then a print on the back about A4 size.
Steer away from nick names sorry Bubs, like Decrep says, we're talking bigger dollars there. No probs though about you getting it done yourself afterwards though. There are plenty of screenprinters out there that will happily do heat transfer letters and numbers like on footy shirts etc. They generally go for around $2-$3 a letter or number applied.
For all the people submitting ideas also, best if you can create them using a design program of sorts and saving them as eps file. Industry standard is Illustrator but Corel is good too. I CAN'T use a j-peg unless it is really hi-res. PDF's also can be used IF the resolution is high enough.
Depending on what design wins it, Hardie you may be able to put me in touch with the sponsors and I can ask them if they have the files that I need for their individual logos.

I can do up designs in Illustrator. My post above was from Illustrator.

Just a thought, you could create a design and then plonk it on a bunch of different shirts via cafepress, then people could buy whatever style they like.

Although this sounds expensive it has a few major pluses:
1) As I said, people can choose the kind of shirt they prefer.
2) Exchange rate to US is pretty light right now, so prices aren't too expensive
3) You don't have to print a set number of shirts up, but you can order some wholesale and get a discount if you want some for events etc.
4) Because of 3 there is practically no outlay except for artwork.
5) Extra colours don't cost anything. You can have as much colour as you want in your design.

I don't like to bang my own drum, but if you want to see some cafepress stuff along a similar line, I have my cafepress store still running. It would give you an idea what you can achieve on a limited budget. The site is http://www.poleys.net

In addition, there is another similar site that allows this called Spreadshirt (www.spreadshirt.net). They seem pretty good. They certainly allow you to print larger designs on shirts.

How about one of those rashies that they use in the PWA comps that you wear on the outside of your gear. Then people on the water would know you are part of the GTC

I don't own a rashie, no need in the deep north, but have heard good things about these guys. Why not stick with them, a team supporter We could just order from them with a % going to the GTC site, might be easier anyway

Good to see Windwarrior stepping up but dont forget Sick-em. He generously organised the NSW Cockroach GPS tee's and was very keen to help at the start of this thread. Of course Im not biased or anything
