Hey Guys,

I have just got a GT-31 and am working out how to use it. Havent been for a sail with it yet but have been for a ride with it to have a play.

Ive got the max speeds and stuff showing fine, but to get a track and eventually upload it, do you need to set anything for it to record where you have been each time you sail? Or does it do it automatically?

Basically, I've turned it on, I've updated the firmware, and set the settings..... what do you do next!!??

Thanks guys,

Matt

Before you sail go in to trip meter and clear all the data (click and yes) each time, go in to speed and clear your max speed and 10s max ave. Then stick it in a waterproof pack and away you go. When finished, turn off. Take out the card and stick it in a card reader, open with your favourite software or KA72.com and view your results. Log in to GPSTC (join if you haven't already) and fill in the boxes when you edit the session for the day you sailed.

Each time you turn on the GPS it will make a new file on the SD card (.sbn) It is named with the date so it is easy to find the one you want when you copy it from the card. The internal logger is different. It will continue to add to a single file (.sbp) each time you turn it on so it is best to clear it before each session (assuming you have saved it to the SD card first).

The simplest way to clear all the trip and session data with max speeds and max 10 sec etc of to go to the MISC menu (next to the SETTINGS menu) and go to DELETE. Then select DELETE ALL. This will wipe the logger memory and all the trip and 'Genie' top speeds etc in one go.

Likewise, when you finish a session, go the the MISC menu and select the SAVE TO CARD item and then the SAVE ALL item. This will save the .sbp file from the logger to the SD card as well as the genie .spd text file with all the max speeds and max 10 sec speeds.

These two menu items were recent additions to the firmware and are worth their weight in gold IMHO!

I guess that means it is the old (slow) way with the GT-11
