Yes agreed - stretch and ability to move is all good but I still find they all contribute badly to arm pump due to forearm pressure.

As AUS4 said, Neil Pryde make windsurfing specific wetsuits. The features that I have found of benefit on their 5000 and 3000 suits are:

Extra material in the forearm area to allow for forearm growth during sailing.
"Boomerang" (pre-shaped) arms, to reduce fatigue in the forearms.
Vertical, ? back zip for easy-on/easy off.
Wide opening near the ankles, sealed by Velcro, to aid foot insertion and easy foot removal when the wetsuit is wet.

They also have a range called NPX and here's a link to it: www.npxwetsuits.com/index.php?option=com_npxproducts&view=all&Itemid=85. You might care to have a hunt around their site to see if the wetties meet your needs. Am not sure that all of the features I value in the 5000/3000 are present in the NPX range.

Not sure if Reg/Windsurfing Perth keeps NP suits in stock, but Wind Surf n Snow in NSW supplied my 3000 model about 2 years ago, so you might send them an e-mail. I received excellent service from them, even though I was out-of-state.

I bought one from Promotion.They do a range of windsurfing specific wetsuits with loose upper arms and upper body and dryskin. They offer good customer service including exchange if the fit isn't right (even if you have worn the wetsuit!) and with US exchange rates the price is good. You won't have to wait long either - I think mine arrived within a week or two from when I ordered it.

Thanks. Just had a quick look and they only seem to do long sleeve in a 5/3 had a 4/3 once and it was too hot for our winter.
I see they do a short sleeve 3mm than you can velcro on some long sleeves not sure how that would hold up.

Used to sail cats and also windsurf in the UK.
At one of the boats shows was a company making
wetsuits combined with drysuits.
They had 5mm neoprene legs with ankle seals to stop water coming in
and the top was a drysuit (wear a t-shirt/sweater underneath).
This worked fantastic in the UK but a bit too warm for QLD.

The Flying Objects wetsuits have always been specifically designed for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing. What is hard getting across to people is that the panel layout, materials and features we build into our suits, do make them specific to the sports we design them for. So I just cannot see why people still go out and buy a surf suit which is not specific for our purpose. So I thank you for asking the question.

Yes our suits have extra wide forearms and biceps to minimise any restriction with forearm pump. We also cut the panels so they flex / move in the correct anatomical way to how a windsurfer is positioned while sailing. With regards to materials we also use specific rubber in critical areas for stretch and warmth, all these materials are the same as used by the big brand name surf companies and they are built in the same factory.

If your suits are designed for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing why dont they have smooth neoprene to stop wind chill on the arms, legs and lower body. On the chest and back is just not good enough,this is a surf and dive suit. Double lined nylon is for in the water like surfing or diving where this material will keep you warm, the water wont evaporate from this material so you get wind chill and get cold were as smooth skin the water does evaporate so you will not get cold on the water on your board. Most important....if your kidneys are cold the party is over.

Don't really need that level of warmth over here in Perth. The extra flex of the double-lined material makes it a more suitable choice, especially for wave-sailing. The 5/3 is plenty warm enough for the coldest days we'd ever get, and even that would be overkill for a lot of the guys.

There is a single lined suit - the Lava. But I wouldn't use one for wave sailing unless I was going to Tasmania or NZ in the middle of winter. And in mid-winter I'd probably head somewhere further north. Where I could wear boardies...

You're right though - warmest option for wind use is single-lined neoprene (smooth skin etc).

That may be true, but how long is a smoothie going to last? From my experience, that stuff they use to keep the wind out, peels off, tears, and lasts maybe one season.
