I know this has been done several times so if you can give me any links that will be good.
My partner has just got a small/medium van and I can use it occasionally to carry gear.. ( beats the claustrophobic Corolla..)..) He's going to put a basic bed in the back with a gap down one side for a pushbike.
Pics of what others have done to carry boards?
Will need to make a hole in the cargo barrier to poke the board noses through as its prob 20cms too short - largest board 245 cms long ( 250 bag).I have 3 boards + a big bag carrying many sails , a padded mast bag, 2 booms + miscel..

A bit old now but you get the idea, the bars are spring loaded and come out so you can sleep in it (Hyundai Iload). Hope it helps.

Wow, that's the neatest cleanest set up I've seen for a while. Are you sure that you use that or is it for display purposes only.

Very nice. Although the boom on the left could be a lot straighter than that. It's on a crazy angle!

Here's what he's done - We needed a bed for o/night car camp bushwalks + cycles and the boards sit on that. It still needs a bit of finishing off as he's only had it 2 weeks. As it's not mine I'll only be allowed to use it once a week or so but wow! What luxury compared to the Corolla!
Its' only a small van . I need a cargo barrier for when I caret all my art display gear to horse & dog events but the boards were too long so we compromised that a bit to cut a hole for their noses.I have 3 boards and they all fit but we only have 2 the van in these photos. The front seat goes forward to allow enough space for the boards.I never have a passenger when I go sailing so that's not an issue.
My loft sailbag or other gear holds the back of the boards up.I suggested a springy rack like was shown here but it's got headliner and he put soundproofing and lined the walls so you couldn't push against them with that idea.

The bed is full width for sleeping but folds back at the front and on one side to allow room to sit or for 2 pushbikes to be carried.

Packed & ready to go tomorrow.. Please blow..!

A very cheap option is plastic plumbing tubing, erected like lego, very light and can be dismantled if needed in a few minutes.

Today saw Pierre's van fitted with this plastic tubing, has space for 3 boards and 6 sails from memory.

Cost, guessing not much more than $100.

Thats mine, I could do with making the bed about 15cm higher now though as it is too high anyway for me to sit on it comfortably, and I could do with more space to fit kit. At present it fits 2 boards and 2 booms under one side and 6 sails under the other with masts sliding in above the wheel arch on the left.

I want a bigger van now though that I can stand up in, its a bit too cramped for more than a few days camping in the UK where it always rains when you go camping.....but is sunny when you dont
