I agree with what you are saying but that seems to be the lot of the Australian car industry. They are geared up to build larger sedans and wagons and these cars are not selling much anymore.

I've talked to people about this and it would have been better if Mitsubishi had built a different car to the 380, something like a Lancer or Colt. Perhaps the head office said no because these cars are made in Japan and thats that.

I reckon Ford is on a winner by building the Focus in Australia. They are guaranteed a huge government and public sector market now as the Focus will be the smallest and cheapest Australian car. Toyota won't ship as many Camrys to this market now. So Ford is changing from only making Falcons and Territories. Holden is still only making Commodores here but you get die hard Holden fans, even when the Holden is cheapo Korean car. Mitsubishi couldn't do that with the 380. I think a 380 on gas would be a great vehicle thats cheap to run.

i reckon sales for falcon/commodore competitors would double if only they would make them rear wheel drive. front wheel drive is for ladies

Lake macquarie has a big bill board advertising a new suburb by the lake, it has a guy windsurfing on slalom gear only a few years old on it to, is this the return of the windsurfing craze of the 80's? or are we just deperate to find signs that our great sport is still getting noticed? hmm makes you wonder...

At least its better than the Holden ad where they show a bunch of Korean cars and tell you how Aussie they are.

True, but since I drive a Holden, and the doors still lock and unlock five years on, its still a good car. Unlike the lancer I have to turn the headlights on myself so it can be tought at times.

FWD uses CV joints which equal higher maintenance and greater loss of power
RWD = mid mounted gearbox which balances up the weight distribution and makes for better handling even iff overall weight is slightly increased.

why is RWD less tractable on slippery surfaces?? if this was the case all race cars would be FWD coz they are mostly traction limited.

not all AWD cars are equal. I raced rally in a mitsubishi evo 0 ( or galant VR4 as they are known) and with its 60% front drive and engine gearbox mounted in front of the front wheels it made for some crazy out of control situations that a WRX would have made piss, due to the low slung aft positioned boxer motor and mid mounted gearbox. offline it became a plow and you couldnt flick the rear end even with the hand brake coz the tail had no momentum.

Ever seen a a high powered FWD car (over 500Hp)??
i didnt think so. Anything with big power runs a live rear axle.

You don't have to agree with me, but I invite you to prove me wrong. This has been debated before on car forums and the information is out there. I'm not going to be bothered again to source it. You can however try to source the information to prove my statements wrong.

My friend sold his WRX because it was "too boring". Nothing could catch it through roundabouts though.

but how does the guy in the lancer get that board to the beach? it's a sedan and where is his rigs? every keen sailor knows you keep all your gear in one place so you can make a quick gettaway to the beach. so unrealistic..
