I love the downhaul pulley system on this one. Should be able to get that leach twisting nicely.
Comes with a free bit of downhaul rope too!

I've still got one of those from my 1984 Hi-fly Pro race.

The board was bright yellow, 12 foot long, epoxy construction, sliding mast track, fully re-tractable centre board, 8 foot straps, big double concaves.

I rode it in once in a race using a 4 metre sail in 20-30 knots.

Those were the days

ok - that is too funny!!!

except i do remember when i had one and raced with one - had the Hollow Hi-fly Race board, all yellow with a bung at the end - good days the eighties!!

Now i'm living in Fiji and Windsurfing every day - well almost, teaching every other day! Life in paradise is fun - but that advert was a real kick from the past!

Why hasnt anyone bid yet?????

They are currently listed at windgenuity's site brand new for $59!... i guess if you want to win the concourse D'elegance with your restored wally, you need that genuine NOS fin.

Who is exhorder2006? Clear a man who knows how to market NOS!

Man I'd love to have a board like an old HiFly Race. They were bloody awesome. I was only a kid back then and there is no way I could afford to buy something like that. I used to see them in the magazines plus a couple in the flesh.

Unfortunately if you invested your cash in BHP shares instead of a new HiFly board back in 85, you'd probably have enough money through all the share dividend reinvestment schemes they ran, to have enough money to retire.

I owe my entire windsurfing career to a Tiga 295 and some custom alloy fins that smashed more coral reefs than a chinese oil tanker, so I will always praise the plastic Tiga so well built and they worked so well!

BUT at this price...

Wow, how old would that be ??

Somehow I feel this auction won't receive one bid.

Recently almost by accident I bought a better and newer Tiga wave board off eBay for the grand total of $7, including a Chinook boom.

I've still got my Tiga 295. A great board, still in great condition, and tough as. If anyone wants one I'd sell it for a lot less than that one^.

I hope its a bargain. The nose is damaged so I'll just put some tape over it to keep most of the water out. Its for those super windy days we get in winter so it will be interesting to see how it goes and if it doesn't, it doesn't matter.

$7 bucks! for a genuine Tiga! Geez thats a sin!
I'm getting all misty eyed over the Tiga memories now, Whatever happened to Tiga?
Seriously if I had not had a Plastic Tiga dont think I would have ever got hooked, I learnt dragging my gear over rocks, coral reefs, jettys, on off boats, the works, I'd estimate in the time I had the tiga I would have destroyed 20 modern style boards!
My 295 would also hold several world records also!

Only Tiga (and possibly only ever slalom board) to sail from Long Island Whitsundays to Shute Harbour!
Long Island to Mainland and back speed record.
Palm bay to Long Island resort world speed record.
The list is endless.
RIP Tiga.

The $7 Tiga isn't plastic. It looks like it was made in the Cobra factory as it has a vent screw like the other Cobra boards.

Here are some pictures of it. Besides the damaged nose its in fairly good condition. I'm not sure how it goes. I'm looking forward to some 30 knot plus westerlies to try it out in.

Classic! I could be wrong but at the end they may have gone non plastic? I remember those red/yellow boards! Nice nose shape wow! Love the allover deck/foot pad, ugly as but practical. Looks like a fun project at $7 you cant go wrong!

Check out the Tiga website.

www.tigasport.com/

Looks like they ended up as part of Bic and sort of gave up in 2007. I think Bic owns Tabou too so perhaps there was too much of a cross over between the two. I've seen a few Tigas that were not made out of plastic.

I chucked out a Tiga almost identical to the Flea Bay picture last time I shifted house, along with 2 other boards and at least 6 sails (2 of them were dacron Bombora sails, so I was due for a cleanout), but if only I'd known..

Can't resist making a few comments & including a photo as a 'paid' up member of the Tiga Fan Club I was able to purchase Tom Luedecke's 1985 World Cup high wind slalom board late in 1986. That's the one at the top of the photo. It's 2.65m long, probably 75 litres, made of epoxy/kevlar/carbon and about 7.2kg with the fin. The underside has deep double concaves leading to a quite V at the rear. It still provides a soft type of ride but is not up to speed with the latest designs. Used it last Sunday in the strong S breeze with a 4.1m wave sail, until my harness broke that is.
The newer board in the picture was brought in late 1995. It's a full epoxy/carbon slalom board 2.77m long & 90 litres in volume. It's bottom shape is basically featureless in comparison. All but flat throughout. I only used it for 2 months, so it's
all but 'new'. The riding characteristics of this board are just the opposite to the older one. Hard, hard on the legs but friction free under the feet. Quite scary fast at first !
Note the different mast positions. The newer board would only work with loose leach type sails.
Will have to try to get out on the 'newer' board

as it's been 16 years since it was last wet
