The Guy on the Maui Sails is James Dinnis. Owner designer operator of Carbon Art Boards in Taranaki. The wind really blew over the 2 days the guy on the orange ezzy was on 3.7 and a 69lt small for most. This is the first video second is still to come....
Taranaki is a wicked spot to come visit. The conditions are not as consistent as maui or one of those places but if you can't get wicked wave sailing you can get a world class surf in instead. Pungarehu is on of the coolest places I have ever sailed and when the wind is right and waves big you can get some epic rides!!!
I was there for 2 weeks in October a few years ago, and only missed out on 1 days sailing the whole time. And that 1 day actually turned out to be very windy a few mins down the coast, but we didn't realise from where we were. Local knowledge goes a long way. Awesome spots everywhere. Awesome surf. Unfortunately Pungarehu was the only spot (out of the spots I knew of) I didn't get to sail. For a wavesailing trip, I'd choose Taranaki over Maui any day. Can't wait to go back.
