Well bugger me. Just looked it up and its true - 2 dictionary entries for "supercede" and 6 for "supersede". (zero for "superceed")
Going to the etymology I see > from M.Fr. superceder "desist, delay, defer," from Latin supersedere "sit on top of, stay clear of, abstain from, forbear, refrain from," from super "above" (see super-) + sedere "to sit"
I'll stick with "supersede" and continue to revile "superceed"
And I agree. "Should of" is straight out of the CIA handbook for hands off torture.
