Want to organize a most excellent adventure.... surfing, windsurfing, cheap eats and beers..... thinking New Cal? Or Asia, but not sure about waves in asia....Bali has waves.... but no wind? Phillipines same situation... some wind at times, but no waves....

Fiji, am very doubtful on wind.........waves it has... big ones :/

Anyone solved this solution?

Thinking only a week...... 7 days, and 1 day either side for flights..... take our own gear....

Or maybe Maui is the most sensible solution.... but on the dirty cheap....

little known fact is that phillipines has lots of waves and a small surf community. cloud 9 break is the most famous. but you need a few flights to get there. Easy options is Mauritius. direct flights short transfer and lots of great waves & winds. Surf, SUP, kite & windsurf. Get rental from mistral on the beach. ok accommodation. We went last october and great time.

New cal is for sure the closest windy destination to Oz's east coast.

best months are oct to february, but 2013 is promising as I was sailing this sunday in 18 knts in 25?c water....and have been sailing "nearly" every day since october

But regarding waves we are quite poor, only the reef delivers and you need a boat to get there

^^ agree with Sean. Everywhere else has little or no wind.
Thus if you want windy and waves - surf in a.m and windsurf in p.m - why not stay in Oz???

I go to NZ every year on surfari for the last 5 years and it has never let me down. Sooo many options for good surf on the west coast NZ. There are some good options for serious surf and sailing on the Taranaki Peninsula.

Latest trip was 2 weeks ago and we had 5 days of pumping waves at Shipwreck Bay (Ahipara). It's THE most amazing point set up I have ever seen - a long north facing point with 7 quality left handers, all super long waves too. Needs a thumping SW swell and winds SE-SW to work though. Raglan is also a must surf spot especially if your a goofy footer, and has some quality left hand point breaks. Heaps of kiters at Raglan so I guess you could sail it too. The best thing about NZ is if the West coast is blown out you always have the option of the East Coast. (but of course Im thinking like a surfer - if it's "blown out" you can sail!!)

We usually get a cheap van rental and camp or just stay in backpackers.

Fiji, Safari Lodge is awesome, there is plenty of wind. When we stayed ( during September) the trade winds blew all day long, plenty of 20 to 25kt days not sure about surfing there though
