Hey windsurfers :)
Noticed there's not many of you between Urunga and Grafton in NSW! I'm currently based in Coffs Harbour.
I'm currently windsufing regularly on
Most weekends and
Often on weekday arvos after 4 or 5pm
At Park Beach.

About 150 metres south of this 'A' marker is a good car park to set up your rig out of the wind and walk down to the beach.

Excellent news Tom, I'm moving back to coffs in a few weeks after 20 years away. I have a unit about 2 blocks back from the marker you spotted on park beach, Deano(DISM) is keen for anyone to sail with but is at uni a lot of the time but will be back late november, about the same time I get back, Looking forward to meeting Deano and Mabbot(woopi I think).
Ive been drooling over the seabreezes they have been getting there latley as I also plan to sail any arvo when windy and any weekend.
I have to wait till my tenants get out to move into our unit, they have until 29 dec but hope they move sooner, will be killing time at old bar until they move.
See you down there,
Will PM you contact details

Hey Tom,

I'll be back at the end of the month (as Wormy said) and you, Wormy, Mabott and I will have to meet up for a sail at Parkies

I'll prob have most of Summer off, so you will see another sail out. Only been ws since last summer, and spent most of the time inland, so i'll be dodgy at surf but it's all good (spent last summer in Bello river)

Do you go out from the surf club car park or the one just to the north of the caravan park?

I scoped out between Little Muttonbird (i.e: the island at Coffs Creek mouth, looks good when enough water over the sand)

Flat Rock will be fun to go for some missions to over Summer also (just south of Woopi)

Btw, there is a few windies down around valla area, i've met or heard of at least 10 from the area (there to woopi)

Catch ya in a few weeks

G'day Tom,

I think I met you the other week at the hoey carpark. I went for a sail at the south side of the island near the surf club. I think you were further north up the beach. I will be in the water during the week following the 7/11.

cheers, Mark

hey all,

I will be spending a fair bit of time up in coffs over the next few months working, so will probably take my gear with me.

Aside from waves at Park Beach, is there anywhere that suits flatwater Formula or Slalom? How about inside the harbour - any tips on where to launch from there? Or is it too gusty in a NE?

cheers
james

Hey James

I've only been windsurfing for a year

But used to sail dinghies in the harbour, it can get pretty gusty, good in a boat, but probably not that fun windsurfing even with formula gear

But try it, just stay clear of the Muttonbird Island windshadow it lasts about 100m

Used to launch boats from where you can see the top of the 'y' in 'jetty' on the map (alongside the nth breakwall of the harbour), watch the waves bouncing off the wall, I've rolled a few boats there. The harbour has an annoying little shorey

I've been sailing 20mins South in Bellinger River for flatwater stuff (learning), also gusty but ok in a Nth or Sth wind, there is a section that aligns with this near the island just north west of the river mouth at Urunga, not very long runs at all but

Not the best for flatwater around here, but bring your gear and I reckon you'll get a good sail in. Try some open water slalom

Send us a PM and i'll catch you in Coffs after the 22nd
