I saw this on gumtree. They were great boards back in 1984-1985.
Designed by Helmut Kirner. Maybe in the hands of the right person they could still be competitive.

Might be worth someone in Sydney buying this board as it looks good value.

If it is 250 litres as this 1985 brochure suggests it is certainly good for volume.

Only competitive against other molded epoxy or roto-molded boards with Styrofoam cores.
Those things were kind of flexy which scrubbed off speed.
So yeah, sure, like in classic car races, but I wouldn't put a classic Triumph sports car up against a new Lambo.

From memory, I think they have the Generic Algiers? type dagger board from the Bombora's etc, so pretty small.
US box too.

Blast from the past.

Nope, they didn't have the standard Allgiers. I'm pretty sure the first ones had wooden boards that were much bigger than the Allgier ones. I think lots of the wooden boards snapped in one of the early Sony events, though. Maybe they have the standard Allgier box and tried to squeeze a more rigid board into the slot?

It's been about 6 or more years since I sailed Raceboards but the top IMCO finished about 4th out of 40 or so, and the Hi Fly would probably be pretty much as quick as an IMCO. Probably still good enough for club racing and lots of fun.

Put in a tuttle box and also do something about the daggerboard and I suspect the board will be up there. With the bigger sails of today, with a bigger fin, as well this could be a whole new game. The daggerboard does not look genuine to me and they were my thoughts on looking at it, as compared to the brochure.

I've got one of those under the house at the old man's place in Vic. Every time I go down there I tell myself I'm going to take it out for a spin. I never do... Mine has the wooden dagger, and it's been fibreglassed up, which validated Chris's theory. Last time I used it was at Frankston or mt Martha on a fresh SE with a 7.8 Naish grand prix. It went ok if I recall. OFFER 50.

Almost certain mine was not a wooden centre board. It was second hand, so it may have been swapped out. I think I actually replaced a lost dagger board with another Allgiers as well.
Had a 9m back in the day, which was huge at the time.
No such thing as not enough wind.
And be prepared for the base to pop out at the most inconvenient moments, assuming it comes with the original.

Someone buy it before it goes to the tip.

I remember team riders from Sailboards Australia, maybe Rohan Cudmore and others racing the earlier HiFly Race with blue graphics at open water events like the Sony. I think the later Race Pro came out with plastic centreboard, finbox and fittings and was not held in the same regard as the original Race.
