It doesn't matter if the swells big all small, Whether I'm out there doing it or just watching others...These sorts of moments are just pure magic.

When conditions are right it's pure magic, for me the time in between sessions feels like I am sort of holding my breath, nothing better than a big sesh and kicking back afterwards with a brewski & grilling some eggplant on the barbie.

Still I had the best session Ive had since..the 90's..? last night.1st time Ive had enough wind to get the new board blasting etc..only lasted 1/2 hr but you could probably hear my whoops from the shore..

i love the sheer thrill of it, being in the moment you think of nothing else; there are no bills, no conference calls, no vacuuming, no global-financial meltdown, no monthly reporting cycles.

your entire world is simplified; it reduces to you, the elements, and your rig. and if you're lucky a few good friends to re-live how you just managed to pull back from a major blowout after your board started to tail walk.

Right on mate, also, windsurfing combines everything mother nature has to offer: Sun, water, surf, and wind!

The FEELING

YES!
The feeling of being pulled along by an unseen power
The speed thrills
The joy of being outside in the sunshine
Excercising without realising you're putting in any effort (because you're having so much fun) and without getting overheated.
The adrenaline high from being on the edge
The satisfaction of constant improvement and the never ending challenge of more to learn.
The camaraderie of other windsurfers (they understand)
and the fact that windsurfers are really nice, generous, helpful, down to earth people.

Watch out that attitude generally precedes an embarassing stack or similar.

Sad but true Notwal, that dog is just the bestest chick magnet.

SBC I'd luv you to do a pet portrait, but unfortunately I spend all my money on windsurfing gear and dog food

leave my worries behind for a while.

the feeling. [impossible to describe unless tried the sport]

the exercise.

the fresh air.

the thrill of trying new gear for the first time.

the interest in sailing in a wide variety of conditions. [never forget south beach]

the competition [love a race or three]

the release of all the feel good chemicals that exercise and being in the sun gives.

the sense of achievement you get after sailing for a few hours.

did read in mag once, scott mckercher say that surfing [not windsurfing] is the pinnacle of life.

for me, 25 to 30 knots at peli-point on my 3.3m tush rock and 80litre slalom board.

Sailboarding gear I can believe but a little dog like that can't eat that much !Sounds like the story I get from horse owners..What sort of Ducati do you have ?( I assume it's a ducati although you can't see much).I can paint bikes too..

I don't like it. I hate it. It takes all my money, wrecks my social life, infuriates the family, and busts up my body! And that's just for starters!

But I,m addicted to it, and will be carried off in my coffin jibbering if they bury me on a windy surfy day.

It's for the physical aspects of it. Keeps me fit.
The rest is all gravy.
