It must be frustrating as hell watching us speed past them all the time, getting wave after wave while they are slowly doing extra long tacks out to the horizon to make ground upwind.Struggleing to get out through the waves when the swell is up,swimming frantically after their sail boats getting washed into the beach,not being able to go out and actually move at any sort of speed unless its 30knots.


Good on them for not embracing new technology and keeping the past alive.
If it wasnt for the stubborn old dogs playing Winddancing ,history would be lost forever.

It will get popular again,
retro is in style at the moment with home renovations ,and flared pants are apparently in fashion so maybe in anther 10 years cruizing around on oversized surfboards will be done agian.

Keep windsurfing alive against the odds.
Keep charging hard old boys.respect. My grand dad still drives an old VW beetle and dosent like change either. good on him.

15 year old readers of Tracks, vs real big wave surfers.

We all feel so sad that we get 50% time on water in challenging conditions yet can't go dangle under a bar in 12kn. Poor us.
I feel soooo left out.

Personally, I enjoy 2hrs on the water continuously, whilst watching a kiter try to relaunch repeatedly as he drifts downwind with tangled lines, and all the others need a buddy to launch and land. Until it hits 30kn and there is no kiters to watch anymore and we just change down to 4.0 and keep sailing.

I don't know, all I'm ever hearing from kiters at the local beaches are: "windsurfing was too hard, kiting is much easier" and "come over to kiting, it's less work."

that explains why so many kiters are gen Y........"Y do I have to do something that is an effort??? I know, I'll kite, that's easy!!!"

I can't imagine an Aussie Kiteboarder ever dropping in on a windsurfer everyone knows how well schooled all Aussies are in wave etiquette, they teach that stuff in kindy. I figure the guy must be a euro, maybe Spanish in which case he/she would probably say "lo siento mucho"


On the choice of watercraft issue raised by l.o.w I figure that it doesn't matter how you mow the lawn though I prefere the traditional method without all the cables and associated risk of death.

it not wave riding, its getting towed around the wave and simply turning on the wave, nothing special, believe me i kite as well, its easy and makes good of sloppy conditions...

kitesurfings like being pisssed, it makes any dog ugly girl doable,

but when you see a real beauty, a stunner thats when windsurfings makes full use of your senses, you know you cant pull out at anytime if you do you have wasted your opportunity, you have to ride her to really appreciate her, you have to watch her and notice what she is doing and follow her move, you cant skip stages and get away with being average, you have to be committed and sober you have to feel the wave under your feet and realise that it may never happen again, its about using what you know and its a great responsibility to ensure you do a proper job, and when you pull it off its amazing, it almost winks at you as it closes out....

Amazingly I sat through all that dribble. So why bother typing cr@p about windsurfers in this or any forum? Do you think it's actually funny, welcomed, needed or helpful? Basically all you're doing is looking like diCks on a global forum and dragging other less then impressed responsible, decent kiters with you. You look like tools to all windsurfers, and 98 percent of kiters. Total fail all-round...
