Other day was water starting (epically overpowered as usual)felt some pain in the arm in this region more underneath the elbow towards the cap on the back side...

So yesterday at work (while using a rattle gun) it all of a sudden
just seemed to hurt i was out for about an hour It felt like my arm was dead. The pain seemed to go away.
So on my days off this morning i attempted to do some work around the house (rendering gates) while i was mixing the render with a shovel in a large container my arm went dead again for an hour. So after about an hour i was ok?
Then at boxing tonight the injury seemed to reoccur. This time my arm felt dead and i was struggling to support the weight of my arm below the elbow joint????. it was shaking and getting painful to the stage where i could barely operate the power steering of my car driving home completely dead. with pain... Anyone else had a similar thing or what?.

I have had a similar injury. My guess, depending on what side of the elbow it is, then it will either be tennis elbow or golfers elbow. I'm guessing golfers. I first had it hit me at Sandy point last year when I was trying to carry some firewood. I had to drop it cause I could not support it due to the pain and loss of strength as a result. Believe it or not, strength exercises are one of the cures but they will depend on what injury. You could also require just rest or if it persists maybe a cortisone injection.
I could be completely wrong with it but it certainly sounds very similar to what afflicted me. Go to a Doctor and get an ultrasound done to check where the inflammation is and they'll sort you out. THEN, go to the Physio.
Good luck

Is this just an excuse to show off? Hard core over powered windsurfing man. Doing manly work with a rattle gun. Rendering gates in his spare time before spending an evening boxing. I usually finish off a session with a beer then fall asleep in front of the tv.

Buster are your elbows bent while sailing, this is what caused my golfers, gave me hell and yeh hard to pick stuff up. Chucked away my short harness lines 22's and got long ones, up to 30's now. All the exercises didn't help while I was still sailing with short lines, all good now.

Its definentally golfers elbow
The answer to that Bob is yes now i think about it my arms seem to go dead for the first half hour of sailing and then the "burn" on the muscles seem to go This effects jibes because after a long run the arms are simply to tired.. I get substantial blistering and large Calais build up on my hands.
I do use short lines but haven't known any better since day one.
I think you may of highlighted the cause of golfers elbow in windsurfing. i think prevention of re-occurrence is a key factor.
Appreciated for the input.

I've had this reoccuring golfers elbow for a couple of years now, its annoying. It will flare up if my rig is not balanced eg, I tried a demo sail the other day which wasn't tuned properly and it caused it to go off.

Keeping the lines longer will help. Don't clench your hand tight on the boom, I make a point of setting up so I only use light finger pressure on the boom - even adjust the harness lines so you're lighter on the afflicted arm.

I have also found that if my back and shoulders are tight it restricts the blood flow to the arm and makes the golfers elbow worse. I try to stretch the shoulder upper back as often as I can.

Good luck with it.

tendonitis takes an extremely long time to heal buy its self, i've popped a tendon pully in my finger before and couldn't clench a fish for 6 months plus..

Must be awful. I once had a large French port build up on my shin but some cream soon made it go away.

Not sure about golf elbow, but the only way I cured my tennis elbow was to wear one of those tennis elbow strap things for six months, whenever I was doing any work or sport. Like this- available from any tennis shop

http://www.clinicwarehouse.com.au/shoulder-elbow/tennis-elbow-braces/neog-tennis-golfers-elbow-strap.html

With it on, I found windsurfing helped it rather than hindered - but then I've always had long lines and straight arms.
