I finally had the time to put something together from last winter in Cocos.
Darren Jepson had hours of go pro footage to go through, some of which he and his mates have posted before, so I tried to use just a bit of his most clear shots.
I didn't have much footage to choose from, from the beach cam so it is a bit repetitive at the start.
The music and the cuts have shifted a bit from the original version to the upload, so not the best timing in the world, but I'm just getting the hang of this editing stuff.
Best to watch it in 720hd if possible not the standard 480.

Paul your a talented man!!!
Even though there were no waves I really liked it, well put together.
I think you should repost this in winter when it's cold and raining.
Well done.

Great Video. Looks like a great spot!

Is gear available on the island or is it best to take your own? What are the wind conditions like? ie. strength and reliable from day to day? best time of year? Cheers.

Highly recommended trip everyone... My partner and i were there just after this group. I also have hours of GoPro footage... in fact i think its still recording.... somewhere on the bottom of the lagoon. This is the last time it was seen... It looks secure... NOT!!! What was i thinking!!!

Great SUPing/surfing if the wind isnt on or for during the low tide:

Highlights:
Night sail on the full moon
Sailing to home island and the resulting 10KM downwinder back.
Home made Pizza's by Jez in his wood fired oven
13 days sailing out of 14... only reason i didnt sail that 14th day - i thought i better spend some time with the other half hahaha.

Excellent vid once again Paul.
Every time I see photos and videos of the Cocos it makes me want to go.
Is there much to do for kids?

I have to agree with you about the full moon lagoon sail Dan. It was one of the highlights of the last season there..... though once you start reminiscing, there are a hell of a lot of them...... It's a hard way to spend 3 months....

There's no island hire ejmac, Most of our equipment is current/next seasons (RRD/Tushingham) that we have to ship over months ahead.

No strip to speak of Sailquick, just a niiiice chest deep lagoon which can produce a little chop on the high tide. Ok for speed when the tide is dropping as long as you dodge the coral bombies Think the best I managed there was high 36 last year on slalom gear. Bloody fun though

Can you gybe over the Blue Holes ???

Does my head in sailing in clear water no more than chest high and then the big test....

.... putting the thought of "what sea creature" is lurking in the deep blue holes that are further across the lagoon and pulling off a gybe over them without falling in and dangling your feet above the prying eyes below !!!!

My guess is that my success rate drops well below 50%.

Haha yeah that is the test of manhood alright, few years ago I hit a big 'something' right in the middle of a blue hole on my way across to Home Island and got chucked right over the front - needless to say I didn't hang around to see what it was
