I just picked up a copy of the book from Windforce, after borrowing friends copies all through summer. This book is a great training aid for all Windsurfers, from beginners up to loopers and beyond! The best bit is you can have it with you at the beach and recap on the ‘hot tips’ before you hit the water!

Each transition is broken down really well with flowing photo sequences and detailed explanations. Light wind exercises are included for all abilities which gives us all something to do out there when the wind isn’t perfect, but will make a huge difference to your sailing ability.

I really would recommend this training aid for all. Gives the beginners a recap on the first stages, then goes into harness, footstraps, stance, waterstarts, carve gybes, jumping, freestyle and even wave riding and much more!!

Here’s what tricktionary.net says:

The Tricktionary is a comprehensive windsurfing training book of 292 pages divided into 9 chapters, which show beginners how to start, intermediates how to improve and experts what to train.

With every level taken in consideration the Tricktionary tells beginners about the equipment and guide them through a complete beginner course with all the additional info you'd otherwise have to learn the hard way by yourself. While intermediates can improve their jibes, tacks and 360s - freestyle-enthusiasts will be finally able to follow and learn even the most difficult moves. Windsurfers who want to sail in waves, will find everything they need to know. No matter if you are starting to get into it or if you are already a wave-guru - there is always something to learn!
On high quality photo sequences you can retrace every single movement. Explaining text as well as pre-exercises, problems, proper solutions and Hot tips hasten your learning process!

TRICKTIONARY 2 INNOVATIONS:
A complete Basic Windsurf Course (written by Simon Hurrey, and performed by Marco Wedele, both experienced windsurfing instructors),
A lot of equipment knowledge (including trim-guide and board tuning)
A special for "how to get fast" (Slalom, GPS)
Brand new windsurfers fitness and health pages (with Dr. Aly Sabri)
A big new Wave chapter (written by John Skye)

Hey Guys,

We are importing Trictionary 2. They are the windsurfers bible. You name the trick and it's in there with step by step photo's and instructions.

They books retail at $88 which is cheaper than the €45.90 it cost to buy them online plus you don't have to wait 3 weeks for delivery.

There are quite a few Shops around Aus that are stocking them, let me know if you need me to point you in the right direction to find one.

Hi All,

We now have copies of "Tricktionary II" the ultimate windsurfing bible in stock. If you are keen to do some advanced moves or just want help visualising the basics this is a great reference tool. It contains easy to follow frame by frame photo images of the most basic skills through the most advanced moves. I think putting it together with a copy of the "Intuition" or "Beginner To Winner" instructional DVD's will help any windsurfer to improve. The guys who publish "Tricktionary"will be releasing a DVD to compliment the book soon and we will stock it if we can.

Cheers Stephen

Hi. I've just bought a copy of this book. It is amazing. Definitely the windsurfer's bible. It is hard to imagine there is any move which is not in there.
Very clearly written and well presented, it is an absolute mine of information, especially for freestylers and anyone wanting more than just the basics - but the basics are all there too.
It has so much more than any other windsurfing book I have seen.
An excellent resource for sailors of all abilities, the possibilities are endless...
just add wind and lots of time to practice!

(I am not connected to any company selling this book, I am just impressed with it!)

I just got a copy of Tricktionary II. The content is very broad and it covers an amazing amount of trickery, none of it in real depth a la Peter Hart or Cribby but adequately I think. I'm sure there are a few of the more obscure tricks missing but the content, while not quite encyclopaedic, is amazing.

There is good info on gear and tuning for the novice and good beginner tips on sailing.
They have lots of "pre-exercises" that are component parts of tricks and a number of dry land exercises.

There is fitness and training content that could be better - 6 strength exercises all at high reps and 8 stretches. There is a little wisdom. It's pretty superficial but useful nonetheless.

I have a few gripes about it. The major one is that it is priced like a coffee table book at $90 + but presented like a $10 remainder. The design is woeful. The cover is ugly and boring. Many of the pages are decorated with colour fades that have areas of dark print on dark backgrounds. The print itself is an appropriate size and for the most part quite readable. Many of the headings are badly designed try-hard amateurish and ugly. Throughout the book the colour selection is less than ideal. A lot of it is ugly. The photography while fundamentally good in consistently presenting every move at half second stills, suffers from poor quality as if it has been degraded by poor processing. Much of it is too dark. Very little of it is as clear as you would reasonably expect.

The writing is generally magazine standard i.e. clear enough and appropriate for instruction.

It could do with a better index. The glossary is lame. There is very little history.

All in all its a pity to see a tour de force of information gathering and photography let down by poor design and poor presentation standards.

Am I disappointed? Yes. Would I buy it again? Yes, as I said, the content is amazing.
But I think I'll go out and buy some sticky-back to cover it so I don't have to look at the crappy cover.
