Gusting 29 knots on the river today, peaking 33 knots at Ocean Reef and one 43 knot gust at Safety Bay

Enjoyed yesterday's 15-18 knots a lot more with the same size sail.

6.2m was a bit big on the river today. 5m or 5.5m would have been a lot more fun.

5m or 5.5m for tomorrow's strong forecast.

I suggest you purchase a quiver of sails from small to big, then when you go windsurfing put them all in your vehicle. When you get to your destination you will hopefully choose an appropriate size for the conditions. Should you fail in your sail size choice, come into shore re evaluate choose another size try again. You'll eventually work it out and then you'll have an awesome day! Good luck

"put them all in your vehicle", true that.

So many time I see people show up w/o their entire quiver, "but the forecast said it wouldn't get this windy" or "but the forecast said it would blow", so they show up with only what they think they'd be using. Big mistake, applies to boards also, bring everything, you never know for sure until you get there.

I sailed at ocean Reef yesterday and was totally maxed out on a 4.2 and 80L board (smallest gear i own). I had de-powed the sail as much as i could but was not enough. I ran out of energy to tweak it any more. The gusts were just too frequent to a point where i was no longer having fun. An upside is that i nearly pulled off a back loop. I had no intention to do that but i hit this vertical wall at such high speed i was on my way but didn't know how to land it. I very little time to think about it,.

I don't understand? Haven't you guys been eating for the last week? No need for a weight vest. I'm only packing 7.9 and 8.7 for this arvo.

That's just teasing...
no consideration for those that live in the no wind zone of SE QLD Summer , 1 day week of 15-20knts is this seasons average.
too windy... pfttt, get a 4m and wave board and get into it...

Yep especially when it's
an hour drive each way to go back to get something ..My car just stays packed..Mind you that still doesn't avoid the silly mistake of underrigging for the predicted wind rather than what's there..
