Y'know, at first I wasn't really thinking of anything when I posted captions for my own photo, but then one caption in particular got a lot of votes, and it sort of went to my head...

I started thinking "If I can win two in a row, then why not three?

Pretty soon I'll be winning every single one!! Then I'll become a GOD and people will worship me!!

Next, I'll start demanding tribute. I'll use the money to build a private army, and soon I'll be able to start invading small nations and adding their wealth and resources to my own. Then within a few years I'll be ready to take on NATO...soon the whole WORLD will be mine!! And it all started with a caption and a few well-placed smiley faces!!

Yeah...those sails were on the footpath outside Jibe's Beach Club, Mui Ne, Vietnam. It was their time to go. I thought it was Christmas when I first saw them, but closer inspection revealed that they were as brittle as eggshells and most of them had at least one panel blown out, and/or other damage...and had been stripped of battens. OK maybe you COULD have salvaged one or two but what kind of a patched-up derro sail quiver would you end up with? Those sails were TOAST, man. They get left in the sun all day, so what do you expect?

There were also some trashed kites, which passers-by quickly took! But can you imagine the condition they would've had to have been in before the rental centre would toss 'em out into the street rather than sell 'em for a nominal sum?? I bet none of those free kites ever flew again...





BTW, regarding the caption contest - thanks to you guys for being so cool about it.


But if I had it all to do over again... I would've made an even bigger @$$ of myself!!!!
