Get the GoPro HD.
In regards to this thread I don't really like shots from GoPros on extended mounts. They are too distracting. Both from the harness or attached to the board the strut dominates the view.
I'm not sure what the answer is. Perhaps engineering a strut that comes up at a right angle to so the one extended is out of the shot.
Shots from helmets and masts do it for me.
I agree the strut is annoying, and I haven't been too sold by the harness strut mount as a the Gopoo savior. But in the OP video, the distance and perspective are the best I've seen.. I think this one example is better than boom or helmet mounts by miles. That planing forward, and those dry backloops are awesome shots, even with the strut.
Boom and helmet mounts are ok for sailing along and maybe filming the rider during wave rides. But for spinning maneuvers like forwards and whatnot they are just rubbish. Totally disorientating.
I am confident most of the strut can be moved out of shot, with the same perspective and stability of the OP video..
I think this is a bit close to scalp cam.. Brand new pimped gear + aluminum boom?.. You don't buy a Ferrari and fit it with the tires off an 1992 Econovan..
