We all know that Volvo drivers are mobile chicanes but has the problem spread, or have all Bloody Volvo drivers upgraded to Subaru's?

Yes. I drive a Subaru and I have in recent years discovered the joys of nanna driving. It is wonderfully liberating and somewhat relaxing.

I put a podcast on the iphone and just cruise. I arrive relaxed and comfortable and use less fuel.

I drive slowly (ie. on the speed limit or below if the road and traffic conditions require it). I give way to people. I let people in. On freeways and highways I camp in the left lane and drop back to escape from packs.

If speeders come up in the right lane I make sure I am nowehere near them so they can't cause me stress.

In heavy city traffic with parked cars and left turners I stay in the right lane and let all the speeders and aggressive drivers take the left lane if they want it.

If the right lane slows because of a turner or parked cars I stay in line and wait my turn.

I begrudingly let people in if they dive into the left lane and race up to the obstruction that caused the delay.

I dob in people who throw cigarettes or other litter out of car windows. I would dob in mobile phone users and speeders if I could.

I give the finger to people who flash to warn of speed cameras. I love speed cameras. I like nothing more than to see speeders and hoons get booked. I have not been booked for years. (Actually I did get booked recently for a mistake. I copped the fine and paid it.)
I would jail people who run red lights. I would crush hoon's cars on the second offence.

I don't wear a hat when driving.

Why isn't this thread in Shooting the Breeze where it belongs. Are you having a dig at poleys? That's not very nice. (I think Subarus are more of a kite car. Poleys generally drive bigger vehicles.)

can some one explain why they game a 1 month with out penalties for all cars caught useing the new mobile speed camera cars in nsw?y bother haveing them thier if they wont book to make money

Soobi's are excellent, i just wish Subaru would make a STi van, that would be the shizz, could get to the beach heaps fast too..

Ever driven one..any of 'em? Especially the Turbo GT version? Forester's (and lot's of other Subies) romp all over the sand too quite easily, even 20+ year old ones! Perfect for finding that sideshore wind on a long beach. Hmmmm Volvo they ain't.

BTW, anyone got a good Scooby L-Series Wagon to sell or older Liberty wagon? My son just rolled his (was mine) L-Series last week after only 15 hours of driving on his fresh P's and at 50km/h! Not his fault, he was rammed on the rear wheel by a Falcon Wagon going out in reverse from their driveway..."woops didn't see him", perfect "PIT Manoeuvre" the seppo cops would call it. His car was a write-off. He was on his way to school with his 12 year-old sister, both were thankfully uninjured.

Nothin wrong with my 'stupid roo'. Can fit 2 boards, sometimes 3, 4 sails, 2 booms, 2 masts and assesories and that all on the roof. The wife, 2 kids in the back with all their baggage as can be seen in my avatar.

My cash for clunker Camry never fails to thrill. Its front wheel drive understeer to late oversteer is quite effective at going round corners - once you get used to it.

I don't give a rats about sand salt or surf on the inside. Its fully depreciated, twice over. And surprisingly, for a Toyota, its reliable.

From the Melbourne Age 3rd August:

"Local car makers score negative results in new owner satisfaction survey that reveals Subaru has the most loyal following.

Subaru owners are the most loyal of the country's top car brands, according to a new survey.

Brisbane-based consulting firm Engaged Marketing asked 1720 car owners if they would be recommend their brand to other people looking for a car.

Subaru was the clear winner with 49 per cent of owners surveyed classified as "promoters" of the brand, while just 14 per cent were "detractors".

That gave the Japanese brand a total score of 35 per cent (promoters minus detractors). In contrast, 35 per cent of Holden owners were "promoters", while 38 per cent were "detractors, for a net score of -3.

Ford and Mitsubishi fared even worse than Holden, scoring -13 and -18 respectively.

Honda came second in the survey of owners from the country's top nine selling brands, with a positive score of 19 per cent, while the majority of Toyota owners (+13 per cent) were also promoters of the brand, despite its recent recall dramas.

Buyers were asked how likely they were to recommend their brand on a scale of 0-10, where 10 was "highly likely" and zero was "highly unlikely". Those who gave their brand a score of 0-6 were classified as detractors, while those who gave a 9 or 10 ranking were classified as promoters. A score of 7 or 8 was neutral.

Engaged Marketing chief executive Chris Roberts says a negative score is a big concern for a brand, because for every negative comment heard, it takes another five positive comments from a trusted source to reverse that perception.

And he says recommendations from friends and relatives are the most powerful influence on purchase decisions, with 45 per cent of consumers saying that "word of mouth" from a trusted source is more persuasive than any form of advertising or marketing.

"Net Promoter" methodology is increasingly being used by global brands to forecast their potential for growth.
Roberts says web-based social media sites have increased the power of "word of mouth" recommendations.

"There has never been a more critical time to go back to basics and focus on the customer.

The continued strong utilisation of social media injects an additional element of urgency because everyone knows word of mouth is the most effective marketing channel available to customers," he said.

-I must say I've been really happy with my 02 Forester. Super reliable and I can fit 3 boards on the roof, 6 sails, 5 masts, three booms and all my other gear (wetties, fins, muffins etc) in the back with ease, and room for a passenger up front.
