I agree she was full of misandrous baggage but she wrote well and she was entertaining. The only thing I objected to was the way she followed Willie's lead and sank to the level of inventing a fanciful insulting description of him. That's was totally naff.

I think it would add some spice to the forum to cop a sniping every now and then. She can snipe me whenever she likes. I enjoy a challenge (except arithmetic).

I think she shows promise and I hope she returns.

I was just annoyed by Wet Willy's erroneous, insulting description of "my type". But you're right, I should not have stooped to his level.
[Laurie, why was my description of Willy deleted, yet his description of me was not??? His words were just as insolent as mine!]

You'd be suprised, there's really not much baggage here, and definitely no misandry. I'm just sick of all the snide remarks on this forum toward women.

Some have said that I am hypocritical, but take a look at yourselves. Such gallant remarks about how great it is to have women windsurfing and we should have more girls doing it, yet in your everyday banter and in photos posted, you are often sexist and laugh at the comments which are discriminatory and demoralising for us.

I believe the females here tolerate it in order to 'fit in' with a male dominated sport. For to speak up you face being outcast.

I'm just here to point out comments that could be offensive to women.

Very interesting reading. Do you sail smooch? If so, where? Slalom, freestyle, wave, free-riding, or maybe even Formula? Do you have any friends who sail? Female,,, Male,,,,?

Would be interesting to know a little more about you other than you are just here to point out how we offend women.

Smooch 'you have to understand if your married to a windsurfer ,or any full on warterman you are goin to have to accomadate his needs to fullfill your needs; otherwise its not going to work, .Any man that does what we do and truley beleaves in it allways tells the second party what comes first when the conditions are right. Now you sound like you are married to a watermun and when the conditions are wright you are not getting your womanly needs; Let me tell you from experiances ;hang in there let the man get his fix, better still take a intrest and your smile will come back.

JJay, I'm happy with where I "fit in" when I sail, and I don't want to jeopardise that. (I've created enough waves to want to preserve my anonymity.)

We're just playing to cliches, mostly.

We probably shouldn't have Wet Willy as our doorman. Looks like you got off on the wrong foot.

Can't... resist...

I could almost guarantee non of these guys would behave the same face-to-face, Wet Willy excepted.

I'm sure there's some truth in what you say. Even when we think we're egalitarian there's a certain amount of sexism; some in the spirit of fun and some we're not even aware of. It cant hurt to point it out.

However boys will be boys and I think you've got Buckleys chance of changing much. We could adopt some better manners I suppose.

I was under the impression (possibly misapprehension) that the women here were not so much exercising tolerance but accepted the status quo pretty much. It is a boys club but certainly not exclusive. It's that way by default.

I for one would very much like you to feel welcome. I enjoy your contribution. I wish you success in changing things for the better.

Honestly Smooch,
Havent you got anything better to do than start arguments and point out how sexist you think we are?
It's like someone cracks a joke, most laugh others just keep moving and you yell sexist bastards! You even tell us to take a good look at ourselves.
You've used some sweeping statements about men which could easily called sexist.
Are you here to fight for womens rights or to talk about windsurfing?
I'm still not convinced you have ever sailed before.
Try to chill out, accept that most of us have no problem with women windsurfers, most of us are in relationships where our women are happy to give us time to windsurf ( and no they arent chained to the sink or bedpost ) and start posting about windsurfing instead of this men V women rubbish.

Hey, how come I'm the villain?

I love women (and I'm rather good at it too) -but seriously, a lot of my best friends are chicks and we are all good. I'm a sensitive new age guy who can hold his liquor and likes a good $h@g. Is that so bad?

I got off on the wrong foot after Roxy's post, but if you read though the Wndsurfing Moms thread you will see that others also saw that her post could've been taken to suggest that hubby's job was to work all day and babysit after work while wifey went for a sail...but of course we are all reasonable people and by the end of the thread it was all worked out and everybody was happy with each other -- EXCEPT Smooch, who continued wth the anti-male nonsense and condascending, holier-than-thou trolling that "she" has made "herself" famous for.

I think what Smooch really needs is some Willy in her life.

I was thinking more like "the Benny Hill Show" or any "Carry on [insert innuendo here]" movie.
