we should.
you never know when some kook tea bagger might crash his kite in front of you and you have to cut his lines and stab his kite... or cut them in half to remove them from a harness with out damaging it.

Yep Definitely!!!!!

Most of us are that old we can't eat apples now.

A knife would help us slice them up into thin gummable pieces

My daughter wanted a ripstick for Xmas. However, Santa delivered a skateboard.
So this morning when she came in all upset, I thought "how am I going to explain this one?". So I told her "if Santa wanted you to be a one trick pony and wiggle around like a fool and then be bored, he would have given you the ripstick. But, he wanted you to look cool later in life and can see you mastering difficult tricks, so he bought you a skateboard". She thought about it for a second or two and then said, "yer I think he was right. That's why he gave you a sail and not a kite isn't is?".

Some of us have already decided to do it and, after long investigation, selected the Leatherman Squirt P4 shown here: http://www.leatherman.com.au/product/Squirt_P4

Cost about $80, but has the following features worth the money:

It is made of stainless steel, so it won't rust in seawater.

It folds up into a small package, until needed.

It has a VERY sharp blade

It has a pair of pliers (useful for trying to untangle wet ropes)

It has a loop on its bottom, to which 2mm rope can be attached

The 2mm rope is long enough so that when it is around your neck, the knife hangs to crotch level.

Worn inside your wetsuit until needed (blade folded! )

On the water, during an emergency, the knife can be used for cutting etc. and if you drop it, the loop around your neck stops the knife from sinking to the bottom.

So far, only ever used once, about 1 km off shore, in choppy water, to de-rig a buddy's gear after a mast snap. He couldn't untie the downhaul: I sliced through it in 30 seconds.

Hope this helps.

^^^^^^^^^^

What exactly is the point of wearing a shorts over your wetsuit? It be like a chick wearing jeans with a skirt over the top.

Oi, don't give them any more fashion ideas!

I can imagine - 1st 2011 thread on the kiteboarding forum:- "Skirts over wetty pants is the new black....spread the news!"

the only time I carry a knife when sailing is after a A over T a few times over one of the 1/2 a million f'ken cray pots lines with 50m of floating rope floating around our local.

Way more hazardous than the local kiters.

No wonder theres restrictions on nearly everything.
You know, police/medical clearences, licencing and a fee

You spewing they only allowed you a kids coloured knife. im not sure if that will save you. in your neighbourhood and when your confronted with a strangle dangle.

Now theres a good boy, you go back to the kite fourm to cut up some more
xmas turkeys

ps Thanks 4 the heads up ..........Oh well i changing times i swear its BOXING DAY.

Maybe kiters manifest their "feminine side" with a whole range of board shorts, the kiting equivalent of women and their obsession with shoes

I believe it's because I have the audacity to enter into the sacred pole-forum and make my post. ^^^
This place is sacrosanct and my presence is viewed as desecration.
The conservative freaks on this forum don't take kindly to any kind of invasion.
Everytime I post, King-of-the-point tells me to go back to the kiting forum.
Lotto, Mark told you to stay out of the pole-forum.
Man, it's freaking me out.

T.H.C induced paranoia is a scientifically proven fact.
Therefore:
Could a paranoid, drug induced delusional episode be considered reality if everyone dislikes you intently ?
