That board is so fragile if it's the LXT that I almost wouldn't bother
now after that rant - it's very hard to get any decent amount of water out if it has time to travel. U will only suck it out at the point of ingress for a brief period. Let's say a week. but it is been on end gravity will move it. If it's benergy walked on in use, the up n downy motion will pump it thru the board. If the water came in the top it will want to sink to the bottom in use.
you then need a big hole, gravity, warmth and air flow. It can take a month plus in summer to get half that out
as an aside though, it you know the inserts leak then why crack the vent open? It's not going to blow up as it can vent out the holes, which is what u want to get some water movement
Hi Mark,
It's the LXT and yeah I know, I have already repaired some dings on my wife's 115L version, it's like eggshells.
But anyway, I'm going to give it a go, see what I can get out of it water wise. No idea about the history, so I'm going to have to suck it and see (excuse the pun), just keep applying the four elements you mentioned and be patient, appreciate the expertise as always. If there's a fifth element I'll need to talk to Lulu (Chicken, good).
I only discovered the inserts were porous (but no water yet!) after I cracked the vent open TBH. I thought if I vac from the vent there's airflow due to the inserts. I mean the darn thing is a lard-ass, it's over a kg overweight, about 1.2kg, on a 7.6kg base weight. In percentage terms it's a Porker.
Cheers on the paint comment too, I might just sand it back a smidge with 240 or 400 grit or something. Sounds like it's going to be a long project .
