I think I saw a seal at Safety Bay once,
There is a colony of sea lions around the corner in Shoalwater Bay on Seal island, if you SUP over there they often come out for a swim with you
As for the crabs, they are always there, just do not linger too long on the sand
the stingrays are the ones that scare me
They're seals at Seal Island funnily enough, not sea lions.
They are all males and apparently head there after mating season for a bit of R n R !!! What a life, no females to annoy them... hahaha ;o)
Years ago there used to be one that would venture round to Safety Bay and hang around the Bent St. boat ramp for fish as the fisherman came in and cleaned their fish. Had a bit of a funny eye, not seen it for a long time though.
Was probably the same one i saw once have a go at a windsurfer on the Penguin Island sand bar in the shallows ! Don't be fooled they can move quick in or out of the water when they want and would give a nasty bite.
Pity the same one isn't frequenting Dunger Island now where all the tea baggers have now set up camp...
One day nature will again reclaim the sand bar and put 50m of water between the shore and it ! That will do the trick.
