Has anyone done Prasonisi or have plans to go this Winter? Any comments?

Any other exciting Winter destinations locked in so far for this year?

I was there for a week in June 06. The local wind effect was crazy, the forecast would be 10 knots the wrong way, but all that meant was it was only really going to blow 20 knots the right way. Lots of 4.0 and 4.5 sailing. It's dead offshore and pretty flat on one side, quite onshore and waves on the other side if it's been windy, so not great wavesailing compared to Australia, but decent jumping I guess. Not much to do there, you basically live out of the one taverna, but if you're there to sail it's perfect. The hire kit was JP/NP and reasonable enough.

Yes we did a trip September to November 3 years ago 90% in September , it was very good for wind slowly fading at the end to unreliable ....go elsewhere. Its dead in winter and closed up, we were the last in November. Winter temps will not be above approx 21 deg C down to 12deg C. Weather will be dependent on passing depressions by then and not the renowned "Meltemi" winds. My advice forget outside of May -Oct. They are also stoppng the mass free camping on the beach now in season as its too popular. Normally its flat water one side of a beach point and onshore wave on the otherside. We had a great time.....

I was there in 2002, (cant believe it was that long ago!) I didn't stay at Prasonis but had a hire care and drove down from Lindos a few times. (I also sailed on the northern end of the Island) I was there in June (supposedly the windiest time of the year) although I didn't get much wind. It was really hot every day though like WA hot and dry. Think I used a 6.2m and another day I used a 5.8m but then the wind picked up and I could have used smaller.

The Taverna on the beach there is great. There were 2 hire places there when I was there, but that may have change now? Here is a link to one of them. I have also added a photo and there are a couple more in the photos section. It is a great place to visit and we did lots of exploring on the non wind days.

Ahh oooops sorry mate thought you meant euro winter you probably mean oz winter. The Euro summer is hot at Prasonisi up to 35 deg c in august. Also there are 4 windsurf schools on the beach and its very busy jul-aug when all the germans etc flood in, way too busy for oz taste.
