Dug up this beauty from a couple of years ago, filmed on the gold coast.

the opening scene was all helicopter footage and they made a full on windsurfing shop set in the north burleigh surf club for the movie.



p.s. don't expect a lot more windsurfing past the opening sequence.

it's just scattered through the 90min movie.

jamie, the script commanded me to "crash violently" and yes, lisa girle (many times queen mambo) was stunt double for both the star and her mother.

a classic line about windsurfing is quoted by cutter at about 7mins, check it out!!!

all in all a funny film with a windsurfing theme. show it to your kids.

I think my kids would enjoy that.

anita, it is all on youtube (in 9 parts) and it is a great kids movie with an underlying windsurfing theme.

it was made in the late 90's and was definately not made with stehsegler as the target audience!

i thought it was lost for eternity until i was told it was on 7 free to air the other day.

my 16 yr old daughter thought it was cool 10 yrs ago! still thinks it's cool now!

What makes me jealous is that Greenie has obviously aged bloody well if he can be a double for a teenage dude from Hollywood.

The teen movie "Wizards of Waverley Place" which was on recently has a cool windsurfing scene in it too.

The ultimate mainstream windsurfing movie made locally in the eighties, all about an aspiring competitive sailor (Tom "man-from-Snowy-river" Burlinson). I've posted my fave scene from it before, but to recap...

[spoiler alert!]
Hero running late for sailing comp in the final act. With his windsurfer tied on top his kingswood, he charges for the punt; if he misses it he misses the comp. Punt starts to pull away from shore, hero guns it and jumps car to try and make punt. Slow mo' of car gliding (in a kingswood way) thru the air toward the punt. Will he make it?

No, he won't.

Car sinks into water, with distressed onlookers getting worried. Suddenly, out of the water pops the hero on his fully rigged windsurfer and he's sailing off to make the competition.

Well, that's how I recall it anyway. Based on a true story I think...<cough cough>

[edit: looking a bit closer it also had a young Nic Kidman in it, circa "BMX Bandit" era!]

windrider was a classic

it is the best windsurfing movie ever made,

except for the ones greeny was in.

^ especially the nicole kidman naked in the shower bits.
