Has anyone seen the simulator rig? If so can they describe how it attaches to the board/rig? It certainly looks like a low impact way to go through the motions.

Maybe you could use a bottom part of the mast that u cant use anymore, drill a hole throuh it and attach a bolt through the holes in the mast and extention...

I reckon it's just supporting the weight of the sailor -- a bit like those somersault rigs you get in gymnasiums when you're learning to forward roll on the trampoline.

So rig up a mast with lines going from the top and bottom of it to the clew (to hold the boom steady), rig up a winch/hoist/strong line from the roof with a spreader bar which then attaches to the sides of your harness, and you're away.

Coincidentally I was daydreaming about just such a rig just a week ago

You think the system is only suspending the sailor, and he's taking the board and "rig" along for the ride?

in such case maybe just a string from the extention attached to the boom (I used it like this for dry vulcan training).... the strings pulls down the boom at the attachement to the mast and thus pulling down the mast as well.

Here's an industrial strength loop simulator!

PS: Dialogue is in German

PPS: Hey Mr. Stegsegler, any chance of a summarised translation?

When you cant understand the hype that is being said, you can then see it for what it really is!

WARNING

If you're learning to loop DO NOT follow the motion this guy is doing on his industrial monster. You'll wind up in the mast unless you're getting loads and loads of height (killer loop style).

Go find Remko de Weerd's video and follow that.

I totally agree FlickySpinny - I just wanted to show the lengths some people will go to in designing "so called" training equipment.

I agree that the Remko "wymaroo-style" method is probably the best.

Cheers

Valid. It's a totally mental and over the top invention... actually, I wonder if it was left over from something else (maybe a circus knife-throwing stunt) and just modified to be windsurferish. Seems like a lot of effort to go to.

I'd rather use the simulator that puffin posted... the movement is more nartural...

That German bondage machine looking simulator may work if you plan on doing end over forwards. Its not quite the rotation you want for a forward loop.
Ah those kinky Germans

This so called loop simulator looks like a Rh?nrad to me.

http://www.rhoenis.de/geschichte.php

The guy in the video is Bernd Flessner. He says that the simulator is good for loosing fear and to get a feeling for the rotation. What he doesn't mention is that this machine does not simulate the spinloop motion. To me it seems to be nothing more than a show machine.

I doubt that thing was built for loop simulation...more likely an amusement park device!
