Went for a kite at Corros on Friday around 3pm. Good winds!

It was awesome kiting with another 40 to 50 windsurfers!

The front rolls and back rolls looks pretty good. The wave riding was great too see as well. I just had to keep looking over my shoulder and downwind every time I wanted to boost.

But yeah! Was Perth/Lanno ever that busy? Or is Corro simply a special case?

Out in South Passage Lano yesterday there were probably 10 or more Kiters and 15 or more windsurfers. I sailed for 3 hours and had no dramas at all, which was a relief as heading out there I was thinking "Siht! Look at all those bloody kites!"

Good to learn that you are having such a great day out there. In my opinion, even though there were such a large number of windsurfer out there at a time, the risks they posed to each other is actually less severe as opposed to having a length of near invisible rope slice through one's neck, or wrapped around it

It would be ideal that the kiters and windsurfers stay out of each other's sandpit to minimize any potential hazards. Yesterday, there were two kiters who somehow found playing among the windsurfers was the best way to hone their skills. One of them came right close to the area where windsurfers beach start. Mind you, quite a few of the windsurfers were beginners. The other one seemed to hang around the impact zone, only cruising around for no particular reasons.

Yes, a couple of windsurfers did choose to sail in the kiters' zone, They did it at their own risk.

Yes, it was windy. The "walker's frames" did come in handy though

^^^on one hand you comment on the kiters pushing upwind into the Poleys break then you condone poleys spreading down to where the kiters hang out. If you're so keen to keep things separate how about we work on a roster system for the southern breaks at corros? Mon, wed, fri the kites can have it and the poleys stay downwind out of the way, then we can swap the other days?

That would make it easy, or we could all get along together with a bit of overlap every now and then?

Underoath I've counted just under 50 kites squashed in at Lano between Edward Island, shag rock and the point. That was chaos but no tangles :)

You are quick to draw conclusion about me condoning the windsurfers who sailed into the kiters' zone. You happen to be a kiter?

Let me put it this way...The windsurfers who chose to mingle with the kiters do it at their own risk. Similarly, the kiters who chose to wander in among the windsurfers also need to know the risks. For me, when it becomes too close to call, I will aim upwind away from the kite ropes.

Yeah haircut, I think the low ozzie dollar has driven the numbers up. Coro been busy so far this season but the wind has been constant to keep all happy

I would have said the complete opposite, went out a few times in December and there would have been lucky to be 20 people on the water, coro's has only picked up the last few weeks

I was wondering if anyone knew why corros always has low tide in the morning and high tide in the evening every day? Unlike the rest of AUs where there's a 45 min advance for the same tide the following day? Does this phenomenon only occur during summer? is it due to the regular winds blowing the tide in each arvo?

try googling diurnal tides. also the reason that tide watches are useless in the sw of wa

looking at the camera sticks attached to harnesses and in hands the last couple of weeks, I'd say the windsurfing world is soon to be inundated by coronation beach selfie-pole gopro videos including Santa hats
