The Final Round of the KA Sail SA Summer of Speed will be held on Saturday 16th February, at Milang SA. Registration and briefing will be at 12pm and close of sailing at 5pm with recording of GPS screen readouts by 5.15pm. This event is scheduled to be GPS speed 'free-sailing' however we will wait to see the conditions on each day to determine the format (we might throw in some fun slalom races or a marathon if people are keen). If you don't sail with a GPS, you are free to still participate in the event and enjoy the social aspect of the weekend and be in the running for the end of series prize draw. The one-off series entry fee is $40 and this covers competitor packs and boat expenses. You will also need to be a current member of Windsurfing SA or affiliate, and a link is provided here <http://www.windsurfing.org/files/SA_MSHIP.pdf>; for the application form. Please bring correct money with you for both the entry fee and Windsurfing SA membership fee as change will be limited. We hope to see you there...



The Proposed Format:

? 12pm - Registration and Briefing

? 6pm - BBQ + Beers, with Trophy Presentation (Mens + Womens) and Major Prize Draw (5.0m KA Koncept Sail).

I need to buy some sail numbers! For me and Kym now we are official and all!

Anybody know what the water depth situation is like there at the moment? Last time I was there (Glascraft demo day) you certainly wouldn't want to be using a big fin.

To anyone thats interested, my JP slalom version 3 109L with 3 select fins will be up for sale on the day at the end of the comp, and due to the crack on the deck which is repairable it will be going for cheap!

Chris was out with a 50cm fin most of the day on the Saturday of the Glascraft demo day and I don't think he had any problems.
There was a sandbar extending from the south to roughly in line with the jetty, about 100 metres out from the jetty... if that make sense! But most people sailed over it ok.
Not sure how much the levels have changed since then.

Fair enough; it must have been the sandbar where I stopped at one point as it was only mid-calf deep. It didn't cause me a problem on the day as there was enough wind for a small fin.

Any problems with coming up to have a look at what goes on and having a sail without entering the event.

Dave mate i havn't sailed with a GPS yet so you may not be be the slowest.

Rush it's fine for you to come have a sail without competeing. My dad and i have done it all the time and it's great just to sail with everyone. I think i might enter this time now i have a GPS though.

Had a great day at Milang today, wind didnt come in till about 3.30 (?) by then the comp had been cancelled, so presentations all round, then out for a fee sail with 22 other sailors.

Russ and I taught our little ones to sail using phoebes 2mtr Ezzy and a Starboard Go, they absolutely loved it and did bloody well, both were comfortable sailing for about 20 mtrs at a time and the only reason they had to stop is coz they ran out of water
