Families with budding windsurf grommets - come and join our Junior Windsurf Camp in Geraldton Australia.
The Junior Windsurf Camp is open to youth aged under 21. We get together over 50 kids from Australia and International for a fun, social camp where youth of any skill level in windsurfing are given coaching over two days. Coaching is given in beach starts, water starts, harnesses, planing, gybing, tacking, jumping, wave riding, forward loops, back loops, push loops - whatever it is that the individual youth needs. Note that the camp relies on volunteer parent instruction and support, so we need at least one parent/guardian to volunteer and assist at the event for each family entrant.
The camp is held at Coronation Beach which is possibly the most perfect and versatile beach in the whole world for windsurfing families. It has easy, flat water in front, which flows in some soft, small swells that crumble at best. Further out the back is bigger, but still quite soft waves. It's the perfect place for junior windsurfers of all levels, plus more advanced riders can still loop and waveride out the back. The younger, less experienced competitors can still ride the smaller inside break at Coronations, whilst the more experienced/confident riders can ride out the back. Coronation Beach is around a 30 minute drive north of Geraldton.
When: 12th-18th January 2026.
Come and do Paul Van Bellen's Wave Rally from 9-11th January beforehand.
Where: Coronation Beach Geraldton.
The event runs alongside the Oceania Youth Wave Titles, where kids can compete in U13, U15, U18 and U21 divisions (the U18s this year will be the World Grand Final and will run a slightly extended time period of 10-18th January). The U13s runs initially as more of an expression session where kids as young as 7 join others to show off their new skills - even if it's just sailing in a straight line. Then we usually have one final for the more advanced kids to show off their jump and wave riding attempts.
More Information available on the Windsurfing WA website. Registrations open Sept 16, 2025.

And some newspaper articles

Registrations are now open on the Windsurfing WA site. We're expecting our biggest and best ever Oceania event and we'd love you and your family to join! There's a mix of high end competition for the top kids, fun expression sessions for the younger kids PLUS our incredible Junior Windsurf Camp where all kids of any level get coached in windsurfing.
Come over for Wave Rally and stay on. We have over 50 kids attending the camp and they are all frothing to improve their level. Even if you don't have kids, why not come along to:
- share your windsurfing wisdom and skill
- feel invigorated from the froth of the groms
- help to grow our incredible sport
- pick up tips from other instructors, and
- meet some new people who love being outdoors.
Our camp coaching sessions are usually finished by 4.30pm so there's usually a pretty fun adult sailing session afterwards too.
See you there!

But wait ! There is more !
Tribal Cervantes Windsurf Challenge 2-4 of January 26 ![]()
Jane Seaman, Paul can Bellen, Jo Wellings, thanks for organising these.
It takes heaps of work to organise these events, and they need help from volunteers.
If you are competing, bring your partner to help with the setup, finish line...If your kid is competing, it's in your interest to support the events as a volunteer so they can grow through future competitions. ![]()
Some updates on the camp and competition media.
We have the legendary John Carter on photos.
Maria Andres on social media.
Scotty Bauer on drone (sorry, but Paul VB is too busy with Wave Rally).
We've got all the top Japanese juniors coming - Ryoma Sugi, Natsuki Wakasa and Nozomi Sakai. It'll be really exciting to have Team Japan at the event.
And then we've got new families from NSW/Holland and even Noumea coming along for the camp!
A core thing we've all learned over the years is that the kids need to make windsurfing friends to stay in the sport. So bring your whole family, the camp suits kids of any level - including beginners!

Scotty Bauer does a great job on drones - and gets in nice and tight / will risk it for the biscuit so no need for any concern, the aerial coverage is going to be awesome.

One of the biggest weeks in West Oz windsurfing is happening from 9th to 18th January, so head on up to Geraldton where you'll get to windsurf, socialise and be entertained by a bunch great crew!
Forecasts are still changing but you'll definitely score some wind, waves and good times. Note the Kitesurfing Nationals are being held at Margaret River from 15-18th January so you may as well come to Geraldton where there's a good swell and wind forecast.
It's also great to support our WA windsurf events so that they can continue to be supported in the future. Growth in numbers helps us to get more support to keep doing these events.
Social Schedule
Even if you don't want to compete, come on up to enjoy the froth! Everyone is welcome to join in on all social activities whether you enter or not.
- Sat 10th Jan - DJ night at Coronation Beach.
- Thurs 15th Jan - Outdoor Movie Night and food trucks at Coronation Beach
- Sat 17th Jan - Presentation and party night at Jaffle Shack
Participation Events
9-11th January - Wave Rally @ Coronation Beach. Currently it looks like two awesome days of windy competition with waves on Friday and Saturday, followed by a Saturday night DJ party night and some fun sailing on Sunday.
12-18th January - Junior Windsurf Camp & Oceania Youth Wave Titles. Actual days will be set closer to the schedule but we'll likely to still be running on the last weekend if the forecast stays good. If work and time is an issue, you can still join in for part of the fun. This year we have plenty of old and new instructors, including:
- More qualified youth instructors - like U21 World champion Jake Ghiretti, Club Vasse coach and SW Junior Windsurf School hero, Camillo Pillonel and possibly Sammy Ferraro, No 8 in the 2025 U21 World Wave rankings (if he can still walk with a fractured foot)
- Former and current world tour competitors like Karin Jaggi, Patrik Diethelm, Jane Seman, Pete Kenyon, Jaeger Stone, Felix Spencer and more
- Plus some very exciting freestyle specialists likely to come closer to the final weekend.
10-18th January - U18 World Wave Grand Final. We've got competitors from Japan, Europe and Australia, so come and watch the next generation of shredders and support the youth.
Media: We've got John Carter and Maria Andres arriving on Friday who'll be covering all the action on social channels and in Windsurf Magazine.
Water Safety: We've got Geraldton Surf Lifesaving Club looking after Wave Rally and Water Patrol Australia looking after the Oceania events.
Hopefully see you all there for an amazing 10 days of wind and wave action!
