I'm going to Brazil after Christmas and like to go to Jericoacoara.
Any good advices about where to stay and the best way to get there?
Anything to avoid ?

Every time you believe a girl is cute, do a double check-in.
Often they have the 'big' surprise downstair ...
For the rest, the only thing I didn't like when I went there were the roaches ... tons of them and they fly.

Don't have any experience after Christmas but I hear it's a lot lighter.. Should be 4.2 weather from now till mid Dec..

Can get a transfer with all your gear from Fortelaza airport or there is a Party Bus that does the same trip a lot cheaper.. Or there is the Heli option.. Can get a Posuada to arrange it all for you, but I can't remember the names of any..

I just squatted above some lady's kitchen cause I spent all my money on replacement boards and Mojitos..

The streets are sand, but it's best to wear thongs cause there are these worms that dig into your feet and cause cysts in your brain..

Jericoacoara is great but be aware that the wind starts to slow down mid December. You might want to have a look in my website with info about accommodation, attractions, etc. www.jeriathome.com

its an amazing place! I went and didnt leave for 5 months haha!

I stayed at Jeri At Home with Ingrid - a totally chilled place, she is an absolutely champion and will sort you out with all the local info you need. Plus she speaks fluent english so if your Portuges is terrible then you are sweet :)

one piece of advice - leave a few weeks free on the back end of your trip... its the sort of place you dont really want to leave....

Also try a capeta haha!

Went twice but south of Brazil Santa Catharina and also San Salvador de Bahia! was awesome, good surfing and windsurfing in Santa Catharina nice small lake on the Island.... flat water and 25+knt wind. Just learn to say Caipirinia (fresh lime crushed in local rhum (cachaca)) for about $ 2.00 ea! and churasco (BBQ) best meat I ever had. Most beautiful girls in the world and the ratio is almost 3 girls for 1 guy and yes some of the most beautiful have a big surprise for you .,. .,. .,.! The place is amazing.... Have fun!

I enquired recently about flights to Fortaleza and got quoted over $4,000!

Changes my mind quick. I am now looking at Safari Lodge in Fiji.

Have you had anyone quote you flights.

Id rather pay 4g to go to Brazil than bloody Safari Lodge!!... You can guarantee yourself you will be on 4.2 every day, thats priceless..

The Ventos Gear is all Star-Bored, JP-craptasia and GayPryde.. depends on your budget and taste.. There are others.. But Ventos has a sweet setup..

Speaking from experience?

thats 4g for the flight and 2 g for accommodation and board hire. + meals. If I can spend 6g+ on windsurfing I would rather just buy myself some new kit and sail at home.

Is it really likely to be that expensive for accommodation and board hire? I thought that these places are expensive to get to from here, but relatively cheap to stay there.

Never been to Brazil so can't compare, but for you guys in Oz, you would be better off coming over to New Cal !!

Cheap airfares, 3 hours from sydney, hotels on the beach with all the rental gear you need !!

And bloody good food too !!!

Well I haven't flown from Aus, I've flown from the UK, which was 1800 pounds return.. 300 Real for the transfer, and about 60 Real per week for a room with a shower and dunny.. Took my own gear, trashed two boards, one sail and one boom.. Theres plenty of cheap food, the locals need to eat and they don't earn much..

** I have not stayed with Ventos, but the setup is there for all to see..

Best value windsurfing ever, I've sailed 3 Summers in WA, a year in Egypt and a year in Greece.. Would take 3 months in Jeri over all of them..

Thats not even weighing in Brasil and its people as a destination, which needs to be seen once in a lifetime..

And I've also been to Nananui Ra- got two days of wind in two weeks, yawn..

+1 for jeri, you can do the transfer on the bus with your gear, no problem I took two boards three sails etc. no problems.

About 50 Aud maybe less I can't remember, but not much, and its the trips a great experience.

Food and accomodation are cheap if you are prepared to organise when you get there...

should not be that expensive, have a look on skyscanner yourself..

our flights were GPB 800 return from the UK, plus the airline lets you take 2 boadbags for free.

You dont need to fly to fortaleza there is another airport - beings with R?? which you can get a transfer from too if that one is too expensive.

If you cant go before xmas don't bother, after xmas the wind really drops off and the rain comes.
