The guys windsurfing on holiday in the cocos islands with 2ndwind this week had a surprise when Jason Polakow turned up to chase the monster swells and tell some stories.

He had stopped off for 3 days to score some big wave shots for an up coming online video. In what can best be described as an "challenging" mission with more setbacks than greenroom's SB posts.
The boys finally wrangled a boat that was barely seaworthy to get some truly sketchy, but amazing to watch, windsurf, tow in and sup rides on a huge swell.

I will try to posts some pics when I get back to Perth. I had a few camera issues so am not sure if much made the cut as I seemed to catch their bad luck disease.

I did manage to sit Jason down long enough to film an interview while the plane they were catching home landed in front of us. Matt Holder filmed it and we will try to get it up here on line soon.

For those of us here to watch the show it was amazing to see the lengths JP will go to score the pics and enjoy riding the waves. I would highly advise against trying this at home (or here) as there was no wind in the break and no water over the reef.
JP was floating on his windurfer for two and half hours with no wind on an 80ltr and a 4.8 sail and I have no idea how he survived some of the close calls.

i was pretty stoked to be part of this mission.

As paul said - we will have an interview up soon for those that want to know the ins and outs of Sir Polakow and some of his perspective on the windsurf world.

Paul did a great job as the host -with some interesting questions - if you guys like it we may try and do a series of these interview with various riders.

regarding the heaviness of the wave: wait till you see the side angle shots that Jamie scott got from the boat in the water- that wave throws so hard- looks like med jaws, pipe , tombies bubbles -at low tide / Chopes on a mid tide.

swimming in the water there is almost no where to hide from the wave as its only 2 ft deep as it unloads its fury onto the reef. So glad i didnt have to wear a 12fter on the head!

No need to go far far north... South Coast of NSW looked about that size today... probably a bit bigger in the big sets. Plus there actually was some wind around. Only problem, there was no one with the balls to go out in it.

really i know heaps of WA boys with the balls to go out in the big stuff.
You NSW boys need to toughen up a bit.
