Suppose that you now have 30 days free of work, nothing to do around really, nice warm weather and water, permannent moderate wind (green arrows all the time .)

How long in takes for you to get bored with windsurfing at your usual spot

Will it be enough for you 3-5 days everyday sailing before will start looking for other attraction or work to do - even gardening, reading a book etc.

Just from my observations, when wind started blowing on GC few days ago there was crowd on the water.
Few days later wind is still blowing hardly few windsurfers.
As for today I was sailing almost alone and wind is still going strong

"Where the hell are you ?" What are you waiting for ? Christmas ?

Once I read an article from Peter Hart about this issue. He described the scene on an Indian Ocean island where some Brits were staying. After a few days of great windsurfing in the lagoon they started wanting to take it easy and not go windsurfing.

He theorised the issue was that perfect conditions were on tap and it didn't really matter if you went windsurfing or not on any particular day as the next day the conditions will be exactly the same, perfect.

However in the real world we know if its on today, get into it coz tomorrow it will probably be sh!t. Even if the conditions are good there is a fair chance you have to go to work and experience a different order of sh!t.

That is one of the great things about windsurfing here. Its always different and we can get great conditions one day and the next day nothing. We whinge and complain but when it happens its fantastic.

I'd say probably after a week of windsurfing three or four hours a day I'd probably want a rest.

I would like to sail every day but my body wouldn't let me.
It's not that I get bored, I get really tired and sore!

Windsurfing is extremely addictive.

If you used peoples post count as an addiction to their chosen sport, I would say yes.

If I could sail as much as I post on this forum, wow, that would be soo cool.

Addictive for sure.
So many variables and deciplines we can change/try/modify.
Not like kiters - Pump up kite, get dragged out, do flippy spinny, drag back in repeat. Not much tuning you can do to a kite. I'd find it boring.

Seeing as this thread is theoretical, the theory would be that by having continuous perfect conditions, you should be able to set up your rig exactly.
That way you wouldn't be over, or under, powered and could sail for much longer without getting tired and sore!

spent 18 days in Maui- sailed every day except 1 and that day it was blowing 40-50 Knots and just wanst fun.
After about 5-6 days in a row tho you really need to take it easy to let the body recover a bit - hands are the worst part the get really calloused and sore. in subsequent years i steal the wifes hand cream and use it at night when i got o bed it keeps the hands going longer and stops the calouses cracking.

I find locally if I sail 2 days running I'm keen for a rest for a day or two so if we got perfect conditions very day I think maybe 3-4 days a week would do me..Got to work & ride the horse sometime...
Mind you if I go sailing its generally 4 - 5hrs out of my day with the travel down and back so if I lived near the water and could just go out the front to sail I wouldn't mind sailing more..I sailed 5-7 days at Lord Howe & didn't get bored but everything was already rigged ready and able to be swapped as needed..
