OK, so DavMen and I are having a little brainstorm on how to cope with the Sydney doldrums. Do you guys reckon you could attach a rig to this thing and use the apparent wind to hook in and hang on? It even looks like a Hypersonic with it's concaves...

You could have an RF throttle control on each side of the boom - and a gybe button to give you say 4 sec's of throttle through the transition © ?

I haven't seen this model surf jet before but in the 1950s the hawaiian surf rescue used a aluminum hollow board with a small jet inside for surf rescue it was about six inches thickness pretty cool no huge hump on the back although i know they didn't get 225hp out of it

Even fat healthy Americans can plane in less wind than me.

That would be boring after 10 minutes

I'm inclined to sympathise but then I look at guys like Remco and Golito et al and see what they do on light wind days. All you need is 6 or 7 knots to make something of it. Of course if its cold too it can be hard to raise enthusiasm for light wind freestyle. It would be more interesting than that motorised surf board though. That's a real bogan toy.

Sooner or later I thought someone was going to say it. I didn't want it to be me. I'm sure there are differences between the above and a jet ski, but don't think there would be too much in it.

Have you thought of SUP? They make inflatable ones now which are cheaper. Should be fun in small surf.

OMG

I think the doldrums have hit windsurfers (normaly a jovial lot)a lot harder than I thought - Maybe ShearTip should have labeled it as hummor, seems too many poeple took it way too seriously.

Humour? I've half finished the thing! I followed actionmax's advice and put a 225HP motor on the back. 225cc just wouldn't crack 50 knots.

I saw one of those things in Korea, around 2004...they called it a "Jet Board".

It was about 100 bucks a go, if I remember rightly, so being the cheap b@$t@rd I am, I gave it a miss.
