I want to sell this sailboard and sails that I bought used from a hire place. Can someone please give me an indication of what I should say in the ad (eg. is this a beginners board?) and how much I should advertise it for?

Should I just list it on here and Gumtree?

All stuff is ex hire from www.sailingschool.com.au/ except for 1 sail.

F2 Prime board
3 sails
1 harness
1 mast
no mast extension

* second hand kit bought in 2010
* 1 sail has not been used (basically new)

I would guess that the medium sail is quite worn but that everything else is in decent condition (but really, I'm guessing as I'm no expert). The kit has been used less than 15 times since purchase and was bought for $1050

The board had a hole drilled in it for hire compliance reasons. I filled that. The rubber on the front I think was added because it was a hire board too. The board appears not to be soft/doesn't absorb any water. I don't know what size the ails are... small medium and large ;)

The equipment is being stored at East Lindfield, Sydney and would have to be picked up by the buyer.

Thanks for any advice on what to say in the ad, where to advertise and how much for.

Stuart

The board looks dirty etc, but if it is watertight (and not HAD water in it ever), then it is still a ripper for a light-ish beginner. Getting a widestyle cheap is real hard, so it would sell.

The sails are good for decorating a nautical themed patio or wrapping xmas presents and that's about it.

$200 ish for the board .

No way,

That board is actually a excellent beginner board! Take a look at the buy and sell in seabreeze. Good beginner boards are hard to come by 2nd hand, especially on the east coast. e.g. there is a Starboard Start that is for sale at $599, and a starboard go for $350. Yours has seen better days, but if structurally sound and its not got water inside it, its a good board for a beginner. I just a bought a viper (very similar board) for $380. Its a 220 litre board, (F2's Large Beginner board) BTW

The sails aren't worth much, but might make a kit, I doubt you would get more than peanuts for the sails on there own.

I would advertise on sea breeze (looks like you have done that already ... )

If you want to sell a car......polish and vacuum it.

If you want to sell a windsurfer get a scrubbing brush and some Ajax powder.

Thanks guys.

Re "dirt": I photographed it so you could actually see the blemishes (eg. the hole that was filled). It looks better in real life from memory. I'm not sure ajax will work/wouldn't it damage the foam lining on top?

Anyway, I have an advert pending and I hope some people come and take a look at it for themselves.

Cheers

You sure you didn't fill up the mast attachment slot?

Balmoral said you had to be able to tow people who hired board - they did it so they could attach a rope I think in the event of rescuing people.

Did not seem to affect the board, but I filled it anyway (not a pretty job eg. I didn't bother sanding it, but functional)

Why didn't you just leave the towing hole? Surely the board was still functional for you afterwards with it there?

Not necessarily thinking 'gotta-be-safe-at-all-times', but rather - couldn't be bothered. The nose of any board is up out of the water all the time, yeah?

Ok for a beginner like myself, I have been researching a lot of second hand gear.

A newbie like myself would probably be willing to pay up to $150-200 no more only due to being an almost ready to use kit.

First question I would ask is: Does it have the Dagger Board? - from the look of the picture yes.

Does it have the mast foot and extension? - From what you have said no extension possibly no foot as you have not said.

Not having the above brings the price and the likelihood of buying pretty low as mast feet and extensions are not cheap, so it would be another outlay of around $100-150.

Biggest problem is the look of it. might turn a few people off.

Put your price at about $150 neg on Gumtree
and starting bid on ebay at $50 dont go more that 5 day bids as it is really annoying

Good luck, If it was in Brisbane I would look to get it thats for sure.

Re hole fill: I dunno, the hole bugged me I guess.

Yes it has the dagger-board and universal. Only the extension is missing.

Hmmm If I only get $200 for it I'm tempted to buy a set of roof racks and actually start using it. (Before I didn't have a car so left it near where I windsurfed, but became a hassle to get there).

The only reason I say about $200 is because of the condition of the board (ie. foot straps, and board itself) and also missing the extension as they are around the $50-80+ for one of them. I think reading your post you are not to sure about selling it anyways?? I could be wrong on that, but I recon if you use it for awhile you may not want to sell after all.

Good luck either way you go.
