Spent three nights on it (12/07) alone with my SK and 50 or so beef cattle. Strangest place - wore all my clothes when outside; so hot in the sun, yet the wind was so cold at the same time. And for all the wind, the biting flies were rather numerous.
Had paddled the 38km from Deal Island in 9.5hrs; the forecast X-wind was a headwind, the VHF and EPIRB were noticed not to be working as I was about to leave the Kent Gp, but I went anyway after 4 nights on the very pretty and interesting Deal.
Paddled 85km direct to my car at Port Welshpool in 15hrs with little wind, but the tidal influence on the NE of Hogan Island was pretty amazing the rudder did little, but I was glad I had it, unlike the trend for many contemporary sea-kayaks.
There are a few fresh-water soaks near the hut that are fenced off, and the near-derelict hut had a useful water tank.
