I always look for the snout, the arrogant attitude that is displayed, a lot of telling others they know nothing cause they are not sailing the same gear/style/colour as the wave pig. Oh out in the water there will be a lot of unnecessary showing how 'cool' they are. The last test is when they start claiming waves and talking bout that turn or that cutback. Btw that turn or that cutback is usually some half arsed turn that is more wiggle than carve.

I always thought a wave pig was someone who got more waves than most during a session.
Normally first on the water and last off.
Ie Pig Out Slang
To eat ravenously; gorge oneself:
To make a pig of ones self

Stealing scraps and so fourth

Very very different breed to a Wave Snake !

Some poleys might believe that kiters can be very bad wavehogs.
Kiters do seem to catch more waves than poleys,
only because they can ride back to the take-off zone much more quickly.

Or because they don't understand the concept of a line-up

Nah, ^^^
They get it, I think.
It's just that kites are more power-efficient than pole-sails,
so kiters march to the beat of a different drum.

Sorry.

I agree with Waveslave on this one.

We can ride back to the take-off zone much more quickly, like seagulls to hot chips! or as in the case displayed today at Scarborough, a young bogan to a drunken fist fight...

catching waves one after another that arnt being ridden is not being a pig,if you cant get up wind or back out to the line up because your pole is to slow it shud not be then stated that one who can is doing wrong, the waves are there to be shredded not just veiwed from the shoulder at crawling pace.

Agreed.
But when people are doing circle work, everyone takes their turn, so they go out 300m and pick up a wave and sit on it waiting for it to build it is bl00dy annoying to find somebody doing 50m run thru the break picks it up and drops in.
Or because they are doing short runs or downwinders they are always crossing the path of somebody trying to ride a wave

If nobody is on it as you say, sweet. But I refer to waveslave saying kiters are aware of a line-up but choose to ignore it
