Will someone please summarize it for me so I don't have to watch it??
Fit, active, intellectual, uni lecturer dude has terminal
brain pancreatic cancer and is going to die. Soon. Has a wife and three young kids to leave behind. Gives a talk on the Oprah show..
His key point is that you can't always determine what's going to happen to you, but you can determine how you respond. He should be down in the dumps and depressed that he's going to kick the bucket in the prime of his life, but he's decided instead to make the most of every day he has left. Challenges us to make the most of every day we have, and not sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, cause there are people (like him) that have it a heck of a lot worse. Think about what you'd do if you only had months to live, and then go and do it. Focus on what's really important in your life.
In one sentence: "You're not dead yet, so get off your arse and enjoy what life has to offer."
Think that's about right? Anyone?
It's only 9 minutes or so, so it won't hurt to watch it. No scientology, or other spin, just a decent guy sharing part of his life. The last part.
Whether it'll make you a better person or not I can't say, but it's better than watching arrows and hoping they'll turn green!
