Hi all,
Has anybody used E-Go recently to ship windsurf boards interstate?
I have used their services happily quite a few times over the years, but have heard recently that they may have changed their policy and were not accepting them anymore.
Is it just a rumour or are they not accepting package this size any more?
I would ask them the question directly but, very helpfully, they do not have a direct phone number on their website and I am waiting for them to answer my email...
Cheers,
Fabrice
I used them 12 months ago. If you fill in their quote form ensuring you select "carton" and the correct dimensions then you get a quote. They do not ask what the contents are.
You will find some of the franchises do not accept cartons of a board size or sail boxes are too long. But have sent and received quite a bit of gear with no issues.
I sent a board from the Sunshine Coast to Melbourne a few months ago.
No problem. It was fairly cheap ($160) and arrived in good shape
All good.
E-go have confirmed that their policy has not changed and that they are still happy to take well-packaged boards.
Thanks to the Community.
Melbourne to Perth a couple of years ago and I was very happy. I suppose that may have been because the seller did a fantastic job of packing the board and foil.
I shipped a big foil board from WA to Sydney late last year. No issues whatsoever, however it had to be delivered to my door as local depot couldn't handle the size.
E-Go shipped a new board form Queensland to Melbourne for me a month ago and arrived in good condition.
This thread is probably a reference to the issues I had with them.
I paid to have a board shipped from perth to melbourne. They did not accept it at the depot and they were extremely unhelpful.
The sender (in perth) had to to go back to the depot to pick it up.
E-go then had the nerve to charge me cancellation fees - this seems illegal as they did not fulfil the service I paid for.
They are not answering any of my emails and they also basically tell me to f*** off when I call.
They said they had changed their policy and would not accept boards. I had checked their policy, T&Cs and insurance T&Cs and there was no mention of surfboards anywhere.
I'm really disappointed as the sender went out of his way for me.
I have used them on previous occasions to ship boards and sails without any issues.

Was the board packed in a carton?
The board was first bubble wrapped then a layer of cardboard
I suspect that may have been the problem.
I always insert the the same wrapping into a cardboard box.
I've shipped boards with this method before so I was surprised they didnt accept it...
Getting a cardboard box that fits the board isn't always easy
Just a few more things to watch out for with Ego (Hunter Express). Never use your credit card to make a purchase. They then keep it on file and if you put in the wrong dimensions they will deduct it from your credit card. Other issues are there are normally no phone numbers you can call if you have an issue. The most recent I phoned the main Hunter express office (one I got online) and the phone number was a completely different business. Then when I managed to get the correct number it goes in loops and you cannot get put through to a real person. Never attach another item and only use one freight docket. They will cut it off and you will only get the one package. I did this with a mast taped to a sail box. It was the correct dimensions but they don't care. Then good luck trying to track down the other item without any freight doc on it. One more thing always get a photo of the freight and another photo showing the attached freight doc before you send it.
Had a secondhand board delivered from Qld to Hombushbay Sydney recently, good service and great price by Ego.Could not fault it.
