How close do they let you sail to the runways
I mean if they're landing/taking off, and your at the end of the runway you could get some pretty big winds off there

awesome footage. That water is fantastic! Moby, not sure if you can call water in botany blue, maybe grey, but at least it means you cant see the bull sharks

Most of the pictures on this link are from Lifou. I went there on a cruise last year. Wickedly beautiful place. Especially snorkeling at "The Aquarium". Best snorkeling i have ever done including The Great Barrier Reef and Hideaway Island Vanuatu and the waterhole in the cave up behind the church is amazing, I'll never forget it.
By the looks of it that awesome video that was posted was shot off that little island you can see to the right as you head to the dock at Port Vila. Is that correct? I recognize the little huts with the white roofs from the video unless there is somewhere else that looks nearly the same.

^^^ Thanks for that info. Went to Noumea as well on the cruise. The side where the boat docks is a **** hole but over the other side, i think it was called Lemon Bay or something, was very nice. I swam out to that little pontoon just out from the restaurant that is in one of your photo's. Is that the side where you would launch from to sail to those places where the video is shot and if it's too far to sail is there boats that go across. Also do you know if it's expensive to fly gear to Noumea from OZ

So obviously you need a high tide so the reef is covered, correct? What is the best time of year and what sort of wind strength are we talking about. Roughly scaling it from the map it looks like about 4 km from Anse Vata is that about right? Lastly do you know if it's expensive to fly gear over with you or is there stuff that's good available over there. Didn't look for anything like that when i was over there because i hadn't started windsurfing then

^^^Thanks for all the info. I'm thinking hard and even the wife is keen. I've got fairly top end gear now and i'm not exactly chugging around and uphauling so i would like to sail on similar quality stuff if i was going to go over there for basically a sailing holiday. I've got wave and bump n jump gear now and that's what i would like to ride not so much slalom gear. I think i will work on getting over there next year.
