yeah, I think the thumbs have run their course. what started as a way to rein in bickering has ended up adding a negative vibe to the forums.
it provides a vehicle for people to cause trouble, troll or play out some type of industry politics without having to sign their name to it. we've seen the thumbs system be completely abused by serial types.
Back in the mid nineties when I was in Margaret River I got a VHS tape called "Deep South" - it was mainly great surfing featuring Damon Eastaugh (yes, a relative, but his tube rides at North Point are awesome), and some great wavesailing featuring Pat Redman and others, and a bit of snowboarding in NZ. I still have the VHS, but no machine to play it. Does anyone have a contraption that converts VHS to DVD that would be willing to do this for me, I'd pay postage and you can keep the VHS. It's a great watch.
