I suppose since windsurfers/windsurfing pioneered the growth of kiteboarding, then things really "never got any better"

A rare photo of Tom Luedecke testing prototypes for the world beating Bombora X-it. The design process was so secretive that the design was never actually tested with a windsurfer rig. To further confuse the competitors all the prototypes were carved from solid timber in the Gray Nicolls factory.
