The new Neil Pryde firefly 2010 action video just came out.

Look at 0:27s very closely (easier in HD) at the fin, it actually wobbles back and forward a significant amount. Is this just the camera? I can see the fin bending that much but not having the flex to go back again.

Hi Steller,
Its the frame blending on the slo mo that is creating the wobble effect. When you slow-mo you see a mix of the two fields every 25th or 30th of a second (depending on your system). With heaps of shutter speed the two field look almost identical so the image appears crisp and sharp, but If the shutter isn't fast enough to capture the movement you see a blur (or a wobble) across the slo mo.
cheers,
mick

i think the fin is made of silicone rubber and whats happening here is as the tip of the fin is breaking the sound barrier a time space warp is occuring and what your looking at is the tip of the fin moving between the past and the future as it crosses the screen... Freaky stuff hey!

Actually I retract my explanation...Alfredo's is more plausible.......

I think I agree with your explanation, sort of. I think it also might be an artifact of the compression algorithm used for video compression. I would expect a fin that moves like that in free air wouldn't be much use in the water.

Oh hang on, Alfredo said 'time space warp'... I also retract my statement. It has to be a time space warp. How else could they be showing us 2010 sails? It's still 2009!

No sensible comment to make here, but there's some sick moves in that vid...

Actually, yes it is a warp in the space time continuum...

... and I can prove it. I am going to go back in time to 16/09/2009 and I'll post a comment in this thread.
