Howdy. I am thinking to split a length of 6mm clear vinyl tube and glue it to the bottom edge of my old sailworks sail as all the rubber trim has obliterated itself and seems like stitching will wear quick now as I grind it over the board learning.
good idea?

old sail. Probably not worth spending money on I reckon. Other than some tube and glue. But I like the sail so I'd like to keep it going.

I reckon great idea, Sikaflex and a bit of PVC tube would last forever

You can get some pretty tough Sticky tape these days, might be easier than glueing a pipe on.

Thanks for the replies.

Ben, yes i considered tape, but tape is kind of rigid and i would assume it would be hard to get it to grab around a corner, and over the thick stitching on the bottom edge.

I guess it's not a bad idea then.
yeeha.

I will post a pic when i get it out soon.

cheers.

I did a fairly major emergency repair to one of my sails with clear duct tape, it was over stitching and around an edge. It's now become permanent as I couldnt get it off when I went to do the job properly. Just make sure it's dry, press it down really hard ( I used a small roller) and don't use it for a couple of days.
if it's a structural area I've found monofilm can slide Under the tape so the gap gets a bit wider Along the tear but you won't need to worry about that for what your doing.

I took this photo today of board I found under the house...

Lawn is too dressed, it's coming back. Spongy though.
unlike this board, that is definitely not spongy.
What is it? Should I try sailing it? The board. Not the lawn different thread that would be I guess.
I will take photo when attacking the sail with hose repair, and most likely a different lawn too.

Mate thats a SPEED Raceboard from the 90s. Nice bit of kit!! Thatll be easy enough to get the basics down pat n still have a good turn of speed once youre proficient. Have clocked 28kts on mine.

second gorrilla tape, black or clear, have used the clear to repair a small cut in the X-ply, and the black to protect the bottom edge and side of the sail where it rubs on the deck when tacking/uphauling, mostly 9.0 sail issue.

That's close to lawn porn . Oldie would think the board is porn . I think he has a pic of one above his work bench.
