We all have our own local spots for convenience and financial necessity (work), but if we weren't constrained where would be the best place on the East Coast to live and enjoy our sport?

One day fanatic02 is going to get sick of his FIFO job and open up a windsurfing caravan empire. Then I'll ask him to build me the most AWESOME windsurfing toy hauler ever. Then like Mathew says, home is where the wind is . I'm thinking Shark Bay Sep to Oct. Gero Nov to Dec. Lake George Jan to Feb. Get a bit stuck after that. Green Island? Maybe just move to Maui Mar to Aug. Which might work cos AJEaster says that's the only hope I've got of finding a nice windsurfing man to tighten my downhaul . Ooops. Off topic. East coast. Mathew's craft is the only option. The east coast is only good for people with the freedom to chase wind

Easy, where I live now. Melb is 2 hrs away , the pit is 1 hr, local is 10 mins and for no wind the surf is 5 min with no crowds. Living the dream ...... Now if I could just afford to give up work

However I could be a bit delusional after no F/&en wind for so long!!!!!!!!

For your hobby, best to move to 1980. lol

Just joking, but lots of spots between newcastle and byron bay with good summer NE and winter southerlies with no crowds and good waves.
If you head out on week days its hard to find a spot with anyone out a lot of the time. PARADISE

Nah, it's from a band called Hayseed Dixie - a bluegrass hillbilly pickin' yeehaw band. Exact guitarist, dunno, they've gone through some members.

As for a place to live and windsurf. Gotta say sunny South West Rocks- but only if you like beautiful unspoilt areas and epic bump 'n' jump conditions. We're only talking spring and summer though...

Most probably the best bet would be to go up to north Queensland in winter and down to somewhere like the south coast of NSW in summer. So either own a house in both areas or somewhere in the middle and then live in a campervan or caravan.

I think Moby is pretty much on the money with a house on the South Coast of NSW, but a 40 foot catamaran to sail around the reef loaded with windsurfing equipment is more appropriate for far North Qld in winter, as the water is so much clearer offshore.

If your not into big heaving shark island, the nulla also throws out a good summer serve of 20-25knot seabreezes with 2-3ft waves and boardshort warm water.
I dont mind it.
