Just got off the phone with Brett and it seems that it is a combination of things including a lack of commitment from the original proposer to run the event and a perceived lack of commitment to attend from many of the interstate slalom sailors, not to mention that there is not a strong Victorian local slalom fleet to make up the numbers.
I think he was right to change the venue rather than have a poorly supported event throwing a lot of work onto a few local guys (me included).
For those that are still interested in coming to Sandy Point or have committed to being there for the week a few of us will try to make sure that we have some fun races and sailing appropriate for the wind conditions. I am thinking some simple, fun figure 8 slalom type races and, if the winds cooperate a couple of fun sails to the top of the inlet and back or the entrance and back. I was envisaging these more as a fun sail than a race, with a couple of stops along the way while everyone catches up and has a chat but I am open to all suggestions.

Of course, if it blows gangbusters we will be GPS speedsailing and trying to fill up the GPS top 10!
